How uncomfortable do you find wearing heels?

My feet are just in agony after like 10 mins. I don’t know how people wear them out for hours. And dance in them

I have never liked wearing high heels, and as I'm flat-footed with square toes I don't suppose my feet are particularly suited to them anyway. They have always been horribly painful after about 10 minutes. High heels put me in the nearly six foot tall bracket, and that level of attention has never been something I yearned for.

I just don't like or feel comfortable in flat shoes - I don't think it's related to the biomechanics of my feet as such. I think it's just personal preference.

I do know someone at work who has a really high instep though and she struggles too. Could that be it?

I wouldn’t dream of wearing them.

Posh ones will be comfier.
If you have put on weight they will be harder to wear. Heels.
Stick thin and you no bunions and you can wear them.

What fascinates me is how people walk on them on very cobbled paving. And don’t get their heels stuck in between.

I find them agony. I have very wide feet which doesn’t help, these days I’m overweight too so extra pressure if I try to wear them. Even when I was young and slim/healthy I struggled. It would feel like my feet were on fire and I could barely take a step at that point. I can just about manage a small, very wide, wedge heel these days - but I tend to live in whatever is comfortable now.

Sigh. I’ve always been envious of women who could wear beautiful shoes.

I love heels and wore them almost every day in the office until Covid. Had my 50th birthday, arthritis hit my toe…. And I can’t go near them now. Very sad, but glad most other people are into trainers and flats.

I don’t these days but the one or two times I’ve had to, these sorts of things work. Don’t skimp on price, if you’re buying heels.

Depends on the shoe. I have some very comfy heels, and some very painful flats.

I don’t find the fact there is a heel to be inherently uncomfortable though.

I wore nothing but heels in my late teens and twenties, and now I wear nothing but flats. I wouldn’t say I find flats comfier than heels. Easier to walk in, yes, and quieter. But a heel never made any difference to how comfortable they were for me.

i have bunions and haven’t been able to wear them, even if I wanted to, since I was in my teens.

I don’t own any flat shoes apart from flip flops which I wear on holiday. So I’m the opposite. Even barefoot I often walk on my toes …

I think they look old fashioned now.

i haven’t really worn them since Covid. I can manage high heeled boots or sandals with a wedge. But proper heels, put my feet into spasm.

I last wore a pair 11 years ago at my wedding, for less than an hour. Before that? Maybe another 11 years?
I hate them, I have shitty unsupportive ankles and absolutely no desire to wear them!
