Desperately need advice on a dental catastrophe

I have regular dental check ups, last one in May with my periodontist and hygienist, great appointments, left feeling very happy.
Booked in a check up and consultation with my dentist for July 28th for replacing four front upper crowns, that are 20 years old, but haven't given me any problems apart from my gum recession .

This evening I was at a friend's house she handed me a wrapped chocolate that I bit into, one of my crowns has snapped clean off from the gum line, just a massive gap left, no pain at all.

To make matters worse......next week is my mother's funeral, I've written the eulogy and I'm lined up to deliver.it too, but at the moment with the gap, I'm whistling and lisping.
I'm just devastated.
Is there anything a dentist can do to at least make me sound normal when I speak.
Just kicking myself for ever having taken that chocolate, apparently it was straight out of the fridge.

Just feeling my.dentist won't be able to reattach it at all, not even temporarily.
I'm going to ring in the morning.
Please help, on top of my mother's loss, can't think straight.

My mum's funeral took place on Thursday July 23rd and if it was possible to have the perfect funeral she had the perfect funeral. All our careful planning and hard work paid off and along with the weather and a lovely get together afterwards we gave her the send off she fully deserved. The eulogies were warmly received, my well practised eulogy had to be read by my niece (throat infection & lost my voice!) however she delivered it so beautifully..... it was almost meant to be.
We shared many happy memories of a fantastic woman who touched many more lives than she ever knew.
She was humble and down to earth, she was our mother and we will miss her dearly.

Honestly, it's been a rollercoaster of a week. Never had getting a throat infection & losing my voice on my agenda for the week, but that's exactly what happened.
My mum's funeral despite everything was a very special occasion and I've had so many messages from people who attended and those who watched the live stream online and were deeply touched by it, especially the eulogies.
My throat will inevitably get better in it's own time.

Have you still got the crown? One of my crowns came out ant the dentist just cemented it back in and it has been fine. Mine popped of when I was flossing.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mum and all the "unrelated" stress that has followed. You really have been through the mill.

I'm incredibly pleased to hear it all went off so well and I'm glad your niece was able to step in, it's what families are for and I'm sure she was honoured to read your beautiful words.

We don't realise what grief can do to our physical health (I appreciate your dental issue was an accident but I'm prone to gum infections when run down)

I became very unwell - probably with Covid - soon after my mum died very suddenly and unexpectedly a few years ago. I don't think my mental state helped my physical state at all.

Your updates on both threads sound very positive and I'm glad that you managed to get through such a difficult time with all the additional issues life decided to throw at you ♥️

Yes it's two weeks ago today that I broke my crown...... (reattached the next day) I breathed a sigh of relief.
Then just as everything seemed on course, went to bed last Sunday night and awoke in the early hours of Monday morning with a very sore throat and a dry ticklish cough.
Never thought I'd lose my voice, but yes.....my voice was gone by Wednesday night, funeral the next day.

I've always been a firm believer that out of adversity comes opportunity or in my case good things.
And that is exactly what happened, everyone stepped up to the mark & the eulogy I was meant to read , delivered by my niece received fulsome applause and recognition as being a fitting tribute to a wonderful lady.
My voice is still not 100% but it's getting there
