Weird Gordon Ramsay advert

Now I am fully aware that I may be over-thinking this, but WTF is Gordon Ramsay doing with his new Uber Eats advert?
He goes into people’s houses all alpha male and hair gel and berates them for cooking from scratch - throws food on the floor and tells them to order Uber Eats.
I like a takeaway as much as the next person but this advert seems all wrong. Food waste is not funny especially with cost of living crisis and home cooking should be encouraged not ridiculed.
Feel free to tell me I’ve lost the plot!

You all understand that the adverts are about not cooking whilst the World Cup matches are on right?

stayathomegardener · 16/06/2026 14:43

Having watched his recent fly on the wall documentary of his new high rise restaurant in London he funded himself I suspect the economy has since changed and he’s overreached himself.

You do get that the whole point is “Even Gordon Ramsay won’t be stuck in the kitchen when there’s World Cup football on!”?

OriginalUsername2 · 16/06/2026 14:50

It’s funny!

Takeaways come from restaurants. He used to be a football player. Makes sense to me!

He’s never been an advocate for cooking from scratch, he’s a businessman who owns restaurants.

FFS it’s a joke, that even a top chef won’t bother cooking when the football is on. Its not that deep, just a light hearted advert!

I quote like it. I think your overthinking it. No one is discouraging anyone not to cook from scratch generally, just don't start cooking a complicated dish (or filleting a fish) just before kick off. Get yourself a take out and watch the match.

Fair enough! As I said, I suspected I was over-thinking it.
