Elephantine skipping part deux

A while back I posted a thread in AIBU that got a little attention: Elephantine skipping part un

After an extraordinarily busy year, DGS is about to be a big brother. Rather more importantly, I shall be about to set a bad example. Eleven months ago, I had an unpleasant surprise which sent me to my GP. Stage 2 colorectal cancer, could have been worse. They gave me three weeks to beast myself thoroughly in the hills (the gasman likes clear lungs and good O² transfer), then they knocked me out and sent in the robot. Which is metal as fuck. Home in a week, DD's wedding 6 weeks later. Not fit enough to drink, but certainly fit enough to dance. Started chemo, appetite went insane. Finished chemo in January, all clear in March. Net weight loss 14 kg (had been 24, I looked a bit lot poorly.) Waist reduction 40 down from 46, woo hoo! Back in the gym, back at work, got bus pass, got rash vest to hold the bag in place, back in the sea!

I buried my mum's sister in February, my niece got married in May, I buried my dad's last sister two days later, and 2 weeks ago my youngest brother's daughter got married. Lovely chap, 15 inch height difference.

So that's us all caught up.

The Bean, thus called because he doesn't stop jumping, is due mid August. We await his arrival with mingled excitement and dread. At a rough guess, the kids have got about 3 months before the wriggling starts. We are all 9 years older and as his nanna remarked "God help us".

I shall still skip though, the new knee makes it a lot easier.

I'm late to the thread - but congratulations to all on the Bean's arrival.

9 yesterday, and 18 days today. If you were at Whitley Bay yesterday, you might have seen a not so small boy pushing a pram with alarming vigour and a complete disregard for terrain. The Bean was too deeply asleep to complain, he still being in the eat/sleep/shout stage.

Little Prince is doing the big brother thing admirably. He's strong enough to handle Bean safely, and sensible enough not expect more than random flapping and weird face scrunching.

Can't wait until Christmas, when we'll do "baby in the box" again.

Until now, I don’t think I realised which part of the world you were in, and it turns out to be a wonderful one. It feels like the Little Prince & Bean combo is going to be a force to be reckoned with!
