I have been lucky enough to get two centre court tickets for the first day of Wimbledon.
i don’t know yet the exact seat numbers etc but am very excited and wondered if there’s any do’s or don’t s?
I’ve never been before so not sure what to expect.

How often have people been lucky in the ballot?

I got centre court tickets for Sunday this year in one of the 200’s blocks behind the server. They are nearly all debenture seats so I reckon I’ve been incredibly lucky to get them through the public ballot.

Previously I got number 1 court tickets about 10 years ago but that’s it out of about 15 years of entering the ballot. Is that an average strike rate compared to other people’s experiences?

10 years in the ballot, got tickets once, court one on the second Friday there wasn't a full days action on one. A great day out, watched chunks of the mens semis on the big screens and juniors and vets before the show courts started but I would love week one tickets one year. 🤞for next year.

I've been a couple of times through the system where they sell Centre Court tickets for two days hence. Seats always seem to be right up at the top (I presume they're new seats added when they added the roof). They've cost me something like £160, which is a lot for me, but I always save up, and it's one of my very favourite things to do.

Actually, I've just had a look online and I can't see these tickets available. Does anyone know if they still do this?

EDIT to add my point is yes, even high up the view is still excellent. It's cooler sitting under the roof too.

Edited

There is a resale still but tickets go very quickly! What link/sale are you trying?

I just googled 'Wimbledon tickets on the day'. It's been a few years since I tried, so maybe they've changed the system. I can't remember the site I used to use. I remember they used to release tickets on a Monday for play on the Weds, and so on.

I think to buy on the official resale site you need to have been unsuccessful in the ballot and have been sent a link back in March. It is almost impossible and tickets go immediately but yesterday I did somehow manage to get 2 Court 2 tickets for tomorrow. Was slightly shocked!

Funny that we, and a great many other people walk it.

OK fine if you enjoy a long walk. I live fairly close by and have been to the championships quite a few times. It is a much shorter walk from Southfields station to the actual public grounds entrances than from Wimbledon station. That kind of information is useful to a lot of people. But you crack on with your long walk if you enjoy it.

They stopped doing those tickets sadly. I managed to go to the men's final twice when they were a thing.

That wasn't the case when I got them before. Must have changed more recently.

Oh, that's a pity. It was expensive but at least you could be fairly sure of getting tickets.
I got men's quarter-finals one year and women's semi-finals another. It was brilliant.

Thought I’d come back as you were all so lovely and helpful!!
I was incredibly lucky and won the seats in a competition they were fabulous gangway 105 so only about 10 rows up from the front row!! Weather was amazing. We walked from Southfields station but back to Wimbledon. The Southfields is definitely shorter but both were nice walks.
we don’t drink alcohol so I can’t comment on that but we got food there seemed to range from £10- £30 depending on what you had so not really different to most chain restaurants and the venues were lovely.
no loo queues lovely staff they were almost all military people doing it as a job they sign up for.
the tennis!! I guess I’m totally spoilt now as the matches were the reigning male and female champions followed by Djokovic. Seemed to be a lot of corporate types around us but they were really interested in the tennis not just there for the booze which was lovely. Great atmosphere.
a young man in front of me came during the last game and had queued since 1.30 the day before!!!! Crazy !
anyway it was great so if you are going have a great time and if you’ve never been I hope you get the chance sometime!!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day!

SW19pimms · 01/07/2026 09:58

Pimms was £12 a cup plus a £1 deposit yesterday and a huge hot dog with all the trimmings is £8.50. Queues for food etc moved very quickly as did the loo queues! Lots of places to fill up water bottles.
