Which little luxuries are worth spending a bit more on?

Hi all!

As the title says - what are the little luxuries that are worth spending a bit more on for you? Just little bits that make you feel more intentional, I like a thin silk scrunchie for my hair instead of a normal hair band. It just makes me feel a bit put together.

Thank you. I find it hard to get decent bedding for my small double - 4ft - bed . Not a v popular size perhaps.

Any tips on places you’ve found for linen or duvets@Abhannmor?
We have a bed that size and find it difficult too. I’m in Ireland and I’m guessing from your username you might also be.

Fairy liquid, candles, skincare

Londonmummy66 · 28/05/2026 11:19

I love Mitre linen for towels - they do an extra jumbo spa sheet that wraps round me twice and doesn't have the woven strips at the end that seem to shrink after a few washes. And Cologne and Cotton bedlinen with a pretty embroidered border on an otherwise white duvet. Makes me smile every time I get into bed.

Burford brown eggs

Hair colour and cuts. Fruit (Waitrose or M&S). Certain things like asparagus M&S is much better for than eg sainsburys. Shower gel, I actually like the posher Original source ones (ginger, guava). Good sunscreen for face.

Yes fairy liquid, the max power one lasts ages. Finish dishwasher tablets.

Salon hair colour. Friends have given into the grey, I’m just not ready!
L’Occitane Almond or Espa Positivity shower gel, so good after a workout.
Whoever said M and S berries is so right! No comparison to any other supermarket.
Buying a long awaited book in hardback. The new Strike is out in September and I always buy this in hardback.

I too buy the odd hardback which includes the books in the Strike series but the publication date for the latest book hasn’t been announced and as she was half way through writing it a month ago, I doubt it will be released this side of Christmas.

Fresh flowers, Stripe And Stare knickers, and bone china cups and saucers.

Missey85 · 28/05/2026 15:07

Decent coffee ☕ ❤️ I'd rather spend a bit extra and not have it taste like dirt 😊

Does anyone else:
a) agree with at least 85% of all previous posts and
b) wonder if this kind of lifestyle creep is how Elton John ended up with weekly flower bills in the £1000s?

Me!

I didn’t really think I was particularly indulgent until I read this thread, I agree with almost everything other than coffee as I don’t drink it.

Yep. Me.

But remember that this is your one shot at life. If there are little luxuries that you can afford and which make every day a little bit better, you absolutely should do.

In the long-run, lots of luxury items work out to be pretty good value because you use less and/or replace less frequently.

Guineys do that size. Not much choice though alas. I'd like not to have to worry about 'pilling'. And would be willing to pay more for quality but can't seem to find anything.

canyouseemyhousefromhere · 28/05/2026 18:45

Organic milk in glass bottles from the milkman. The milk def tastes better from glass bottles. It’s great to have regular deliveries from the milkman. I can order online until 9pm the night before if I need extra bread, eggs etc. it’s £1.50 per pint though.

Good coffee at home 100%. Stopped buying the cheap stuff and it genuinely changes my whole morning. Also decent bedding — once you go proper cotton you can't go back 😂

Don't use shower gel but do use Marseille soap.
