Hi all!

As the title says - what are the little luxuries that are worth spending a bit more on for you? Just little bits that make you feel more intentional, I like a thin silk scrunchie for my hair instead of a normal hair band. It just makes me feel a bit put together.

Lemons
generally as much fresh fruit and veg as I want
going on holiday in places where there are wonderful vegetables and fruit on sale

Eggs, butter, a lot of condiments like mayo and ketchup, salad dressings.

Toiletries wise, moisturiser and mascara.

Other household stuff - bin bags and biros!!

TutTutTutSigh · 27/05/2026 22:11

Prescription sunglasses and Prescription transition lenses. Love the transitions on holiday to go from day to night without having to carry two pairs.

Victoria Beckham Vast Lash & Kajal pencil. Can’t believe how much better they are than anything I have used before

I buy several expensive fabric conditioners at once. The Tallow & Ash ones. I have three on the go at the moment.

I tried tallow and ash. Loved the packaging and wanted to love it.indudnt!

Hu hazelnut dark chocolate. It's usually £4 a bar in Sainsburys but it is delicious and there's no palm oil or other rubbish in it. I have one a week as my treat to myself.

I completely agree with the PP that said Blitz kitchen roll too!

Hotel laundry when you are on holiday. I had it on my last holiday. We were doing a touring holiday with our own driver ( yes that is a luxury too) and because of this we couldn’t pack much. We made the decision to have our laundry done by the hotels en route. It always came back beautifully wrapped in tissue paper. It was like getting a present.

Twice yearly private comprehensive blood tests.
The over the counter style finger prick ones are not accurate.
SLS free shampoo and nice conditioner.
Bread from the bakery.
Nice feeling underwear.

Who do you get the blood tests from?

Nail polish! With make up I cannot tell the difference between expensive and cheap brands (I always swear by Revolution eyeshadow for sticking to my eyelids during an eight hour shift in the café I used to work in, and I've never used a primer.) Nail polish, however, I've definitely noticed the difference going up a notch. I used to buy Barry M, Revlon, No 7 and Rimmel (among other cheaper brands) and they would take forever to dry, bubble, and chip off. Now I buy Orly, Holo Taco, ILNP and occasionally Zoya and the difference is amazing. They dry faster and last longer (although they still chip because I'm really hard on my nails. 😅)

Veg box from the local farm, totally worth it

HoldMyWine · 27/05/2026 22:33

I’ve recently discovered Method shampoo and conditioner. It’s sLs free and smells wonderful.

whitefluffydog · 27/05/2026 22:34

Blue cheese, honey, black olives, feta cheese, tomatoes and gammon

CurlsLDN · 27/05/2026 22:37

cant believe nobody has said tomatoes 🍅 yet!

I will never buy the cheapest, flavorless ones again. So worth spending an extra 50p for flavour!

IsthataNo · 27/05/2026 22:37

@TwinklyRoseTurtle what do you think are quality mattresses .

Laurmolonlabe · 27/05/2026 22:38

Natural fibre clothing, not necessarily expensive, but always natural fibre.

Nesti Dante bars of soap
Bread - we are in Surrey and get sourdough, brioche burger buns and french flutes delivered from Sussex Kitchen
Milk - organic milk + cream from outstanding local dairy less than a mile away
Butter - Isigny Saint-Mere
Music on Vinyl
Meat - massive carnivore and BBQ enthusiast so buy a lot of good quality meat from local farm shop and online specialists
Agree with others on shoes - spend £400 but then have them resoled and keep them for 15 years
Knives - my favourite are hand crafted by an independent in Forest Row (Two Sticks Forge)

Which ones would you recommend? I’ve tried Neom and The White Company but not impressed with either. Maybe it’s my sense of smell but I can barely smell these ones!

I get some lovely ones here www.cantocandle.com

Can to Candle

Hand poured soy wax candles made in small batches. Candles from "Can To Candle" make excellent gifts that are individually hand crafted, unique, quirky and full of character.

A beautiful, bold good quality lipstick, like a Lisa Eldridge one.
