Any surprisingly good Temu home decor finds?

I know, it's unethical and the vast majority of Mumsnet would never consider something do cheap and mass produced. Me, on the other hand, needs something cheap and cheerful to decorate my new place. I'm hoping there are a few of you who can tell me you've bought rugs/curtains/throws that were great value for money. Or anything else home related.

Facebook free groups have loads of things. Its worth a look on there.

There’s a new town built not far, but far enough thank goodness, from my village.

Youngsters starting out advertise their “Wants” on FB pages.

Judging by the comments, it works every single time.
Try it.

I'm looking to buy rugs and curtains specifically.

So specifically how will you know what they're made of, what chemicals and dyes are used, and if they're safe for humans or pets, if they're highly flammable?

I don't know, to be fair I never ask these questions when buying homeward. Unfortunately even in good times my budget does not extend to organic sheep wool from the near by farm.

We have similar and the CFs have the cheek to say they need delivery. I don't have enough front for that sadly.

What's your problem? If you think I'm a troll just report my post. Why would I be trolling anyone with Temu? If I was going to Troll I'd be posting pictures of my beautiful home in Holland Park with my vair expensive furniture. No one gets invested in a Temu rug thread.

Most people don't want organic sheep wool from the nearest farm, they just want a basic level of safety 🤔

You don't need to ask these questions about something you buy from Argos or Asda because you know legally it's not going to be painted with lead paint or made with dangerous levels of formaldehyde.

I remember Next being under scrutiny for formaldehyde in their clothing. Anyway, I'm not licking the carpets and I won't let the DC either!

There is SO much stuff already in existence and being sold through charity shops, Vinted, Ebay, Facebook etc.

Zero justification for buying new stuff, especially with tat from Temu.

Devondevs · 13/05/2026 21:48

SIL got this rug for her new place
https://share.temu.com/sGUVK1GrRaB

It’s very soft and after 4 months, still seems well made.

A rug which lasts 4 months. How has the bar been set so low.

Well you seem to be getting wound up, along with a few other posters. Don't reply if it's so upsetting for you.

No, you're not doing anything wrong @lavenderscenteddrawerliners, it's a live-streaming shopping platform focused on auctions 🙂

HortiGal · 13/05/2026 23:39

Temu is now like Amazon, lots of sellers including many here in UK, delivering in 2/3 days.
Majority of home stuff is Chinese made now.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 14/05/2026 00:47

I love a bit of Temu. I’m shit at buying clothes as I resent having to spend money on stuff I dont care about. The only clothes I have bought in the last year or so have been from Temu. In fact I think every top and dress j currently own is from there.

I can spend hours on the app and still struggle to make the £15 minimum

It's not videos, it's people selling live, like QVC you filter it to homeware and it will tell u who is selling when.

WhosThatGirI · 13/05/2026 18:21

Give your head a wobble. Of course they have better conditions than human labour in China!!! Stop justifying your choice of Temu.
Buy cheap buy twice

Of course they don't it's nearly all made in China you're just paying a middle man more

DundeeNewcastle · 14/05/2026 06:59

I'd rather have plain walls than know stuff in my house was made by slaves. But you do you boo!

I’ve loved every home decor item I’ve got from Shein/Temu, never had an issue with any orders. Have a browse and just pick whatever you like.

Me too. And a lot of the stuff sold in other shops is exactly the same as what Temu and SHEIN are selling.

SparklyGlitterballs · 14/05/2026 07:04

Charity shops near me don't stock home furnishings. It's mostly clothes and shoes with some books, dvds and china/glassware. I'd try marketplace or Vinted. Does your town have a FB site where they give away unwanted things for free? Our has a Freebie site and people are allowed to ask for items as well as donate.
