They are both professional northerners. I’ve never heard anyone else talk like she does. She’s a very beautiful woman and that’s why she is on TV. He seems a bit dim.

She wouldn’t be the first and wouldn’t be the last woman to “forgive” officially but unofficially waiting until dcs are far side of education/bulk of childhood to leave. If she’s done that, good on her.

To be fair, I find Strictly pretty much unwatchable, but the few times I saw it she didn't come across well to me, I couldn't see the point of her. And she's definitely as much of a "professional Northerner" as him.
Of course, in real life, they may both be entirely delightful, and we should be sad about the failure of any long marriage.
Maybe they both feel they would be happier single..... now there's a thought!

Absolutely no surprise. They obviously ‘stayed together for the kids’ when he was caught out before.

Why do they need new partners? Perhaps one or both of them has realised that life will be much more enjoyable without a partner.....

Not surprised. It was inevitable after the shenanigans that has gone on during their marriage. I hope Tess finds happiness soon. She has been very patient and waited for the perfect moment to announce their separation - post Strictly but before the new presenters have been revealed so as not to steal their thunder.

Reading between the lines of the Mail Online article (yes, yes, I know) it looks like she wants to go off and do frivolous things before she turns 60 and she's in the fortunate position of having a stack of cash behind her to be able to afford it. Meanwhile, I don't think 5 years younger Vern is keen to ditch his newish R2 career. And in a way I don't blame him! So there.

But the joint public statement is nauseating. They obviously can't stand each other any more otherwise why are they divorcing? You really shouldn't divorce for any lesser reason imo.
