Is Henley nice for a day out?

DH has suggested we go on a day trip to Henley on Thames. But neither of us know anything about the area. Is it worthwhile to visit and can anyone suggest things to do, places to eat etc? Thanks.

It’s a small town so you will find your way around easily. The adventure golf is by the park, which is by the river.

There is a free car park on Mill Lane that often has space. It’s a bit further from the town but direct access to the river and mill meadows, which is where the park is anyway. The footbridge has been closed for a long time so you can’t walk towards Shiplake but if you walk along the river, cross the bridge and cross the road you can walk along tow path past the regatta site towards Temple Island. You’ll also walk past the boat hire company Hobbs so if you fancy a boat trip, you’re also in the right place. You’ll walk past ice cream too. I wouldn’t be put off going because something is going on this weekend - once summer starts it’s always rammed and there’s something going on most weekends with women’s regatta, regatta, festival, rewind…

The ice cream parlours are The Scoop Room and there's also a new one in the town centre. Henley is small so you can't miss stuff really but for the scoop room you want to go here
