It seems surprising that the unexplained disappearance or deaths of eleven American scientists has received little coverage in the UK news. Surely this is of worldwide interest given the current state of things.

Ok, but why now?

Also I think it's a bit dismissive to automatically correlate studying ufos with mental instability, as there are whole government departments dedicated to doing just that, and of late, the subject has been given copious air time by Congress in the US.

While I take your points about ND etc, I think that in the case of the missing scientists, UAPs aside, it's only right that investigation covers at least the possibilities such as foreign interference, given the knowledge they might have.

I wonder if other high profile individuals within the industries concerned are stepping up their personal security? I might be feelung a touch uneasy in their shoes.

This could be a case for Mulder and Scully

Coincidentally and pertaining to the bigger picture, this came up on my FB. Algorithms obviously.

Perhaps everything is as much about collective existential crisis given the ever growing instability in the world.

Perhaps not, for some at least 🤷‍♀️

The Pentagon released its UFO videos – so I went to the US to chase aliens. This is what I found

What is behind the surge in ufology? The recent spike can be traced to the top of the US government, which inspired me to start investigating ...

@Sunshineandoranges I didn't know this was a thing

I always say there's much more awful stuff going on than you think there is, but as a result of that feeling, I tend to keep away from news

@MistressoftheDarkSide hiiiiii <waves>

Maybe they've just seen the wind blowing and made their choices and Uncle Sam is rather shy about admitting them.

Or they have been DOGEd and nobody knew about it.

Also, plus ca change (and I worked at GEC for a while 😀)

Proponents of the conspiracy theory link the deaths like a James Bond-esque set of assassinations,

I am sure the FBI is on top of it if there is a genuine cause for concern.

KnickerlessParsons · 22/04/2026 11:32

I suspect 11 dentists, shop workers, bin men, teachers, cleaners, project managers…. have all died in that time frame too.

Bered · 22/04/2026 11:54

Wow the op was really engaged with this issue 🤔

Well the immediate scoffing and ridicule might have put them off.

I'm certainly up for discussing it, so hopefully they'll come back 😊

EmeraldRoulette · 22/04/2026 13:08

I'm also genuinely interested in this

Got work till about 8 pm though

It’s mirroring the story line from 3 body problem- intriguing.

The op didn’t bother to refer to a source

Agree with @mindutopia that suicides are most likely, sadly. I don't think many people in US, especially any working in Science and Medicine under Trump can be thrilled at the directions they have to push research and funding, let alone the war, cost of living over there, knowing the world is watching and weeping, etc.

Have been wondering if anyone would start a thread about this, and considered doing it myself but knew it would be scorned by the majority.

I'm certainly curious. There are commonalities between the dead and missing beyond "science".

Given everything that is going on in the world, nothing would surprise me these days.

Just woken up to see a well known Ufologist called David Wilcock has allegedly taken his own life as well.

Now, whether it is all mental instability, or "something else" it begs the question why a bunch of people, with documented high intelligence and successful in related fields, should all start "losing the plot" in a relatively short space of time.

US agencies are "looking into it" now, whether for damage limitation or because of genuine national security concerns remains to be seen, and frankly, we will likely never know.

However, as the daughter of a nuclear test veteran, the lengths that state agencies will go to in order to avoid accountability and discredit the injured are familiar to me.

It's definitely a situation I'll be keeping at least half an eye on.

Hi Mistress - I've sent you a Dm :-)

The current FBI could not investigate its way out of a paper bag, and I'm not even joking.

Shatandfattered · 23/04/2026 01:34

Glad to see people showing an interest in this despite the idiots who still shout TINFOIL LADY to anyone who speaks of anything anymore..... The FBI is a joke, the president of America is a certified nutter, the evidence from military and civilian whistleblowers has been collected for decades and has become overwhelmingly apparent Congress is taking it seriously, the White House registered 2 domains last month regarding disclosure, they're all involved in anti gravity department or zero point energy.... I mean every single thing thats ever been labelled a conspiracy has come to light as a propaganda based term coined by the CIA to discredit.

But people instead of paying attention to real life and not their beloved news "sources" and quote "prove it though" like a bot on mumsnet where people are giving the deaths of real life people who have repeatedly said they're not suicidal the deserved recognition (and there's family screaming it's suspicious) is just rude and degrading

This is a distraction. Just like Iran was a distraction to people wanting the release of the Epstein files.

What?? The head of the FBI is literally tweaking in every conference he is present at. He is on something. His department is responsible for failing to take any action against a global child s_x trafficking ring and has publicly stated there is no evidence - despite there being significant evidence. The US is corrupt and we are all witnessing it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/04/2026 03:10

The story seems to be picking up traction.

I think a lot of people in this country just don't think about other countries, unless it affects them somehow. So it wouldn't be in uk news, because it wouldn't sell.

It's crazy how conspiracy theorists actually write exactly like how they talk! One entire paragraph without any punctuation or taking a single breath between sentences.
