A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I’ve watched most of the session on YouTube after the event, at least the major parts

Starmer has signed his own political death warrant.

He may not be held to telling the truth in the commons under oath, i.e. with the possibility of penalty for contempt of court, including imprisonment, but he is subject to contempt of parliament and, of course, to national disgrace.

Not once did he answer when or how questions were asked by him or his officials about Mandelson’s failure of vetting after it became public knowledge in September 2025.

He gave a patently dishonest statement and patently dishonest answers to questions about that issue.

He’s going.

EasternStandard · 20/04/2026 18:17

Times Radio talking about the breakdown in relationship between CS and Starmer and co. They’ll be too concerned about being blamed for his mistakes.

I wish I could see beyond the hypocrisy and form a reasoned judgment, but I just can't 😞
How anyone can stand in the HoC and say what he did after his attack on BJ for the same thing is utterly beyond me.
I honestly think if Labour had been less judgmental and supercilious in opposition, I might have been more reasonable in my opinions. But I can't forget Yvette Cooper's endless concern about everything (she's learning now that concern doesn't solve problems), SKS's superiority and Angela Rayner's endless carping about everything and everyone. They thought they would be better, and so, unfortunately, did a lot of voters.
I wonder how long Labour fans will be able to trot out the 'The Tories Were Worse' response to everything?

This is almost word for word a conversation I had with a Labour voting colleague this afternoon.

It also beggars belief to both of us, who are legal professionals (barrister and solicitor) how Starmer managed to apparently not find out of his own volition - by bloody asking (go Diane!) - about the vetting, even if only at the point it was kicking off last year. No quality barrister wouldn't ask the question, unless he didn't want to be specifically told, so he could claim he didn't know at all.

Excellent points.

I think Bollard went to the House today thinking that the only hurdle he needed to overcome was the accusation of misleading the house. He had all the answers to that in his little folder, and used his bestest lawyer voice.

What he didn't expect was that the vetting malarkey is irrelevant, to both sides of the HoC. MPs are angry that he appointed Mandelson in the first place. Mandelson failing vetting is a surprise to no-one., so his knowledge of failed vetting is irrelevant. His first instinct was to throw a highly regarded and experienced civil servant under a bus to try and save himself. Indefensible.

He has proved himself to be unfit for office today, but posters on this thread worked that out a long time ago!

So many people blindly supporting Starmer on MN. It's baffling! Isn't it weird how some people are so blinded by tribal politics? I detested Boris for his lies and scandalous behaviour in office, and I think Starmer is cut from similar cloth. I don't feel the need to be partisan depending on whether it's a left or right politician.

The posts are so blindly loyal. All the stuff that sent people mad over partygate now dismissed for Starmer.

He can’t know everything etc when it used to be ignorance is no excuse.

In any case threads on here are very removed from general opinion, as polling shows. As annoying it is to read such loyalty I don’t think it’s indicative of what’s going on for him. The local elections are coming at a good time. Not for Labour of course.

Reading the is KS a liar thread.. still the same stuff

I've just watched Kemi today. Well done, Mrs Badenoch, well played!

They'll abandon Starmer like a sack of shit as soon as Labour elect a new leader. He/she will be the second coming all over again - yawn.

After watching Starmer for over 1.5 hours and his constant denials and diversional language, I have to ask is Kier Starmer mentally ill.

I say this because why would anyone who did not need the salary (chicken feed). That being for a person in his position and with his tax free Pension (the Starmer Act) want to put themselves up for such derision, from his 'Peers' and public alike. Some might say he loves the limelight of being the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on overseas trips, but he is currently a 'laughing' Stock on everyone of his overseas trips to visit just about anybody. The recent trip to the Middle East to promote a coordinated approach to unblocking the Strait of Hormuz being a prime example, where the diplomats appeared to be 'no-body's' but Starmer was so desperate to appear important.

In hindsight I believe Boris Johnson was relieved to be put out of his Misery when he resigned. He had realized the job of Prime Minister was to much effort and not 'remotely' financially rewarding and thus happy to be out of no 10.

Another, thing that comes to light is being Prime Minister of the United Kingdom an 'Impossible' Job with a maximum timeline of 2- 2.5 years. This. before the absolute impossible nature of running a country that is in terminal decline inevitably shows the failings, of all those that seek the position of Prime Minister.

However, whatever the failings of Brown, Cameron, May, Truss and Sunak were, this Starmer 'Creature' is in a class of his own both morally and in his total lack of even 'basic' ability to understand the Social and Economic malaise the UK is in. !

The thing that always surprises me is that MPs are not obliged to undergo DV.

When you consider how much confidential information they are privy to, it’s astounding that they don’t get screened. It should be part of the process of standing as a candidate.

DH had to do EDV when he got a posting to MOD Main Building. Believe me, they went into everything! He had to declare that I had several betting accounts, that one of his oldest friends was Chinese with family still living in Hong Kong, that his brother got a police caution for breaking a shop window when he was 16; as well as giving them years worth of bank statements, etc.

EasternStandard · 21/04/2026 09:17

Listening to Olly Robbins. Poor guy, his decency is way higher than Starmer.

He doesn’t want to scapegoat other CS.

You can hear the pressure he’s feeling due to KS throwing him under the bus. Taking his phone etc
