A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Listening to Olly Robbins. Poor guy, his decency is way higher than Starmer.

He doesn’t want to scapegoat other CS.

You can hear the pressure he’s feeling due to KS throwing him under the bus. Taking his phone etc

I'm glued to it; 10 minutes in and he's already clearly very credible.

Yes he’s doing very well considering he’s been scapegoated so badly by KS.

Got him on the radio.
I feel really sorry for him. 😞 He sounds very honourable and absolutely refusing to name other civil servants. Poor sod.

He’s so respectful to ET and she’s a bit defensive. He sounds like one good person in politics / CS who Starmer managed to use for his own gain.

WaffleBomb · 21/04/2026 10:17

So No.10 also tried to secure a diplomatic post for Matthew Doyle too? WTAF.
Did I hear/understand that correctly?

Or jobs for paedophile apologist mates in this case. Its sickening.

Not only the job for Doyle, it sounds like the Cabinet Office blocked Olly Robbins from viewing the vetting documents after Mandy was sacked. They knew he was asking questions.

I can’t see how Starmer walks away from this - he’s either lying or incapable of managing his own officials. I’m always inclined to go with cock-up over conspiracy, and this is damning.

They won’t get rid of him just yet, but he’ll be gone before the summer recess.

EasternStandard · 21/04/2026 10:41

Still Labour posters batting for Starmer on here.

Hopefully Labour MPs have more decency and get rid of him.

WaffleBomb · 21/04/2026 10:45

Unbelievable that anyone can defend Starmer after listening to Robbins.

Unbelievable that anyone can defend Starmer after listening to Robbins.

I think some would whatever happened and worse still try to mischaracterise Robbins for their preference.

WaffleBomb · 21/04/2026 10:51

I'm struck that Robbins doesn't appear to want any blame pointing towards David Lammy. He pointed out that he was directly advised not to tell the foreign secretary about Matthew Doyle.

Perhaps Lammy has just been a useful idiot in all this, whilst No.10 used the FCDO for their own scullduggery?

Poor guy ET is so snarky plus being hounded at home etc

People including Starmer can’t get the process of clearance. Starmer’s outburst was ridiculous.

I hope he gets a massive payout after getting legal advice.

EasternStandard · 21/04/2026 11:03

It is astounding the committee keep asking OR the same question. They really don’t get the process.

WaffleBomb · 21/04/2026 11:17

ET's bias is visible from space.

Mandelson was announced (before Robbins arrived at FCDO) knowing full well that he would never have passed vetting. "Just fucking get it done" was quoted at one point. Robbins could not have gone against No.10 at that point. The end.

I normally just read all the posts but have been watching this morning . Oliver Robbins is excellent . A great loss . The contrast with KS is staggering . A man of integrity as against a small man .

TheNoWord · 21/04/2026 11:22

I am beginning to think that there are more nonces in the Labour party than even I imagined.

Welcome 👋

My heart is breaking for him listening this morning. Particularly when he speaks about his former colleagues and team.

Starmer got it wrong in his outburst.

Releasing that form was a ‘grievous breach’. UKSV is a service and the decision rests with the FCDO. The committee are so slow on this it’s painful.

OR has been sacked and hounded due to Starmer’s incompetence and lies, as said ‘dangerous misunderstanding’. That should bring in some damages.

Me too. He has very clearly been stitched up like a kipper.

Unrivalled · 21/04/2026 11:30

Just watched a bit - Robbins is clearly either taking legal action and/or expecting it’ll be taken against him. Looks like he might well win an unfair dismissal claim based on this. He’s so credible. And yes, look, everyone can see KS is going down as very few believe his version.

DancingFerret · 21/04/2026 11:33

My immediate reaction to that inquiry is there can be no doubt Labour is corrupt. Period.
