My heel is killing me! Sat here rolling a golf ball and stretching my calves on naproxen.
I wear hoka trainers

Has anyone a positive story of this being cured?

Positive stories only please....

My chiropodist recommended fit flops ,sketchers and Reicher shoes and I have been fine ever since then.

I had this in the past, and I haven't had it for several years now.

Arch support footwear is key, but this has to be ALL the time. You can't walk barefoot, so you need arch support slippers for when you are at home. Haflinger do great suportive slippers that don't look like granny slippers.

I only wear Birkenstock sandals in the summer.

I change my walking shoes faster than the outers wear out to make sure the inner support is still present. When I haven't done this, the pain has come back.

You have to change your perspective about when shoes need replacing really, as sometimes things appear fine but the support has diminished.

But yes, it can be fixed with the correct management.

FitFlops are heaven (the ones with the decent/chunky sole)
The only shoes/sandles/boots I can wear.

Mine was actually caused by hypermobility and dodgy ankles. Rolling my ankles was putting all sorts of stresses on my feet. Physio to sort my ankles sorted my feet

Mine was bad after repeatedly wearing ballet pumps. After about 6 months ish it just went away. Haven’t had it since.

I used Scholl insoles too, continuously for about 6 weeks. Worked for me.

Against a lot of people’s experience mine is far better when I spent more time barefoot.

I never wear shoes or slippers at home.

If I’m out I’m in sketchers arch fit trainers or a specific pair of adidas trainers that fit tight round my heel. Laces tied tight - I really wish I’d know that when I was a teen/early twenties and the fashion for loose laces was a thing - and tied in the right place.

Now if I’m going to a dressy occasion and want to wear heels it’s one of three specific pairs of ruby Shoo shoes that somehow fit as if they were custom made.

Have escaped it for 3 years so far, the longest ever.

I had it for a good 18 months. I purchased some ankle boots for the Autumn/Winter from fitflop.
Absolutely brilliant. The pain disappeared within a month of wearing them.

My husband had it and was in a lot of pain, he went to a podiatrist who made him some insoles, best money we've ever spent.

This. Custom made orthotics were the only thing that worked for me.
