What are you having for Easter Sunday lunch?

Sat in the kitchen waiting for potatoes to cook and listening to Radio 2 with phone ins about their lunch.

We're having chicken breast wrapped in pancetta, roast potatoes, mash, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings and all the vegetables: peas, carrots, parsnips, sprouts.

We've always had an Easter Sunday lunch. Interested to hear if it's still a thing or do people not bother these days?

Ive got half a leg of lamb slow cooking in a bottle of wine and loads of veg, Jamie Oliver 5 hour lamb recipe. Will serve with herby roasties and spring cabbage. Pudding will be birthday cake as it’s my birthday today.

We’ve just had roast leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary, roast beef, cauliflower cheese, braised red cabbage, fried sprouts, steamed carrots and peas, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing, and homemade lamb gravy. Absolutely delicious. We’ve got a lemon cheesecake and chocolate trifle for pudding later.

Later this evening, but lamb, fondant potatoes, turnip, cabbage carrots and parsnips. Mussels to start, apple crumble and custard for pudding.

Simon Hopkinson's Roast Lamb with anchovies, roast new potatoes, sauted leeks and greens. No planned pudding but there is a bunch of chocolate and carrot cake knocking about. This is complete overkill because it's only two of us (and one of us doesn't eat much anymore but traditions are important!), however there will be lots of leftover lamb to do something with in week. I'm thinking bubble and squeak type something and shepherds pie.

I had some cheese and apple and Easter egg.
DH had some pancetta, smoked salmon and toast.
We are maybe going to the pub in the evening for dinner if there’s a table available.

En route to a funeral so stopped in for a drive thru McDs

Gardenquestion22 · 05/04/2026 14:11

We’d be having lamb but one guest doesn’t eat it so roast chicken for 5 later.

henlake7 · 05/04/2026 14:14

Having pizza followed by Ben & Jerrys. Im not doing a full roast for just me!😄

dudsville · 05/04/2026 14:14

We're atheists, so for us we're just having sunday lunch, but it's quiche with salads and potatoes

TheChosenTwo · 05/04/2026 14:19

We’re having the family round in a bit for an early dinner, we never do a ‘lunch’ because we like doing stuff out and about in the day (not cooking!), we’re having slow cooked shoulder of lamb, a gammon as one of the dds doesn’t like lamb, baked cheesey leeks, carrots, kale, roast potatoes and then a tarte tatin, lemon syllabub, a plum frangipane thing and mini eggs fudge on offer for pudding. We’ll have it around 5pm, usually have our Sunday dinner between 7-8 so an early one for us!

AllaMova · 05/04/2026 14:33

I had some of my Easter egg for breakfast (of course.) We didn’t have lunch, but will be having cheesy Mexican-style rice with soured cream for dinner.

bungobungobungo · 05/04/2026 14:47

Shepherd’s Pie made yesterday and in fridge for later. Not sure what veg yet bet nibbles and Prosecco to start.

AgnesMcDoo · 05/04/2026 14:52

Lunch - Easter Egg

Dinner - Roast Chicken - I’m the only one in the house who likes lamb so not having that.

GoldMoon · 05/04/2026 14:54

We don't do any special Easter meals .
I will be having a jacket potato , cottage cheese & salad ( dieting )
Dh will be having a veggie burger , chips & peas .
Having a lazy day .

Chipsahoy · 05/04/2026 14:56

Crème egg. I had a mini egg cheese cake too! Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding later.

Bombombomtralala · 05/04/2026 14:57

Salad for lunch and I’ll have macaroni cheese for dinner. I’m vegetarian and not into roasts.
DH is doing roast lamb for dc and dgc.

aintnothinbutagstring · 05/04/2026 14:58

Roast lamb with swede mash, roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, broccoli, yorkshire puds but thats to please DS! Roast lamb smells nice but I think as I get older, Im getting increasingly bored of cooking roast dinners (mainly at xmas/easter). I rarely do a roast outside of a holiday as it just takes up the whole day. My DH asked if I wanted to go out anywhere and I was like 'nooo I've just put the lamb in the oven'

CPNSBH · 05/04/2026 15:01

Gammon, roast potatoes, salad, crusty bread, salad, pickles, cheese. Pavlova for pudding.

danglethedingle · 05/04/2026 15:02

We had roast gammon, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese, swede and carrot mash. Apple and blueberry crumble and custard for pudding.

Lamb and beef are too expensive for us, and we have chicken fairly regularly, so gammon made a nice change.

Currently sat too stuffed to move, contemplating an afternoon nap.

1000StrawberryLollies · 05/04/2026 15:04

A sandwich Grin
But we are going out for a posh dinner this evening. Not because it's Easter, but because it's ds' 18th birthday!

TomatoSandwiches · 05/04/2026 15:05

Leg o Lamb, roast potatoes, rosemary and honey glazed carrots, sprouts, mushroom and Leek gratin, stuffing, yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Smoked beef short rib, roasted sweet potato and homemade rosemary crusty bread courtesy of DS 20.

ConnieHeart · 05/04/2026 15:10

Our Easter dinner is this evening, roast chicken, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, veg & gravy. Dd2 is a vegetarian & doesn't particularly like roasts either. But I'm hoping she'll have some or it will just be the 2 of us. I was going to buy a leg of lamb but the ones in Sainsbury's were huge, far too big for just OH & I even with leftovers
