Stressing over speeding tickets.

Today I received a speeding fine from 16th March. I was caught doing 46 in a 40mph zone. It was a lone officer with a speed gun on a tripod. My friend said that the officer was there for all of the next week too. I do that journey everyday and a now stressing that there’s more to come! Is it unlikely that I will have gotten pinged by the hand held gun several days in a row? I need my licence!

Do you now have two fines one from the 16th and one from the 28th?

Sorry typos! One fine so far from 19th

If you were doing 46 in a 40 you may be given the option of a speed awareness course. It depends on the police force and your circumstances.

They may also give you consideration if you get two in a row and make some allowance.

Drive more slowly for a while. Good luck.

No, not “drive slowly for a while”. Just slow the fuck down.

suffer with bad anxiety and I think I’m overthinking it. I was caught on 19th and I’m sure I saw the officer the following week once. My friend who does same commute can’t recall seeing them at all. I just want to know what I’m dealing with. I don’t advocate speeding and I know I was wrong to not stick to the limit.

So you have anxiety but you’re quite happy to break the speed limit while there’s no enforcement in place.

absolutely zero sympathy from me. Just drive responsibly.

I can't imagine they are going to the same place for days on end. Round our way the speed vans go to certain spots on Sundays, DH got caught by one on a Sunday in a spot they often use, I was quite annoyed with him.

Stop speeding it's quite simple really.

Wasn’t asking for sympathy

Nineteen days not fourteen.

It’s fourteen days.

Surely you would have seen the police

There’s a hill near me, with vast tree and bushes on either side. Several times I have seen a police officer stand in the bushes behind a tree pointing a speed gun and those going down hill. Impossible to see him until you’re close to him. Some do hide well.

That said, this is on OP. Aside from speeding the first time (not going to criticise that as it’s easily done), why would she carry on speeding on a road where she knows she can be caught.

But you did see them, I’m not suggesting OP should have been able to slow because she saw them, I’m suggesting if she didn’t see them it was unlikely they were there on the other days.

I don’t ow why OP continued to speed, but they did.

Speeding becomes a habit especially on a road you are familiar with then almost a right. Why are they only doing 71? The road is clear, blah, blah. Apply that logic to 30, 40, 50 etc. Plenty on MN who have the tailgaters and always someone in the news who wanted to go faster and died or killed someone.

A speed camera offence to the owner must be received by post within 14 days.
