Does anyone else do this? Or know of anyone who does?

My son’s lovely girlfriend puts glasses on the top rack of the dishwasher lying down! I’ve never seen it done like that.

And no, I’m not complaining and I haven’t, and won’t say anything - I love that she wants to help out. I’m just curious!

Or perhaps she’s never had a dishwasher and grew up in a house without a dishwasher… believe it or not MN, it could happen… 🙄

But, how would the dishes ever get clean…🤷‍♀️😲🤔

She has a dishwasher at home.

Oh also I’ve just remembered she puts cutlery in the opposite way to us too. I put sharp knives pointing downwards, everything else pointing up.

What do other folks do?

Gently, OP, do you not meet a lot of other people who do everyday things differently to you? The vibe I’m getting here is a child on their first sleepover discovering that other families have different bedtime routines and eat Weatabix with hot milk.

I meet many people who do many things different to me! But I don’t recall ever witnessing or discussing dishwasher stacking habits with them.

As I’ve said, it’s no big deal. I was just curious. 🤷‍♀️

Ask to empty your properly stacked one, it’s taking up too much room her way, I’d definetely say about knives; I put all knives downwards.

Is that the incident where the husband was suspected of stabbing her?

No, she was staying with a friend (who was a church of Scotland Minister). It was treated as an accidental death.

Sharp knives pointing downwards, always. A woman from my hometown died when she tripped and fell on a knife that was in the dishwasher

I remember this happening! I always did put the knives pointed down but make a conscious effort to do so after that tragedy.
