I don't understand slug trails

Where did they come from where did they go? Why do slug trails start in the middle of a room and end in the middle of a room? Is there a slug living under the furniture? Or a family of them? Do they live in the walls? Do they come through a crack somewhere? How do I find and/or stop the slugs??

Ours were coming in under the back door - once we replaced that with a proper one with no gap underneath - no more slugs.
I stood on a slug with bare feet on our kitchen floor one morning - it's probably the most disgusting thing I've ever experienced. Worse than pulling a boot on and thinking 'what on earth's that?' and finding a mouse in it.

Oh, for anyone with a slug issue, if you boil the kettle and the water comes out weirdly foamy, check your kettle for slugs, that was a particularly disgusting occurrence.

Mine come in through the cat flap and head 3m straight for the dry cat food.

I'd come down at night and find at least 6.

As soon as I'd put the light on, they'd be gone within 30 minutes. They're speedy, crafty buggers... They're not daft.

Thankfully now it's not so wet there aren't so many. It's wet weather... Well I don't know, but they did!

And there was no way I was going to put the cat food higher up or nearer door because they'd be up on worktops or nearer door would entice more.

Get up, turn light on, see slugs, near puke... Glass of water that you think you're going to to wretch on... 30 mins later with some light and noise they've 'scurried' off.

I used to get the odd one or 2 without the catflap. At worst Ive had about 10 of the weird green looking fuckers.

BUT... Only after I membraned garden to gravel it.

It's the random snail on the ceiling that makes me think wtf!

I always tell my daughter not to remind of the time I squished a slug between my toes as it was the worst thing ever... That was at the old house.

I never had a problem, in fact had never seen a green patterned slug until I took over their domain.

One thing I do know... There cannot be any salt in Go-Cat
