How many pairs of knickers

A light hearted (but actually super serious!) thread.

You're going on a 7 night European holiday.
Mostly sightseeing, walking about, not overly strenuous. Likely go to the gym every other morning.
Will go out of an evening to eat and few drinks.
Weather not warm enough in all likely for handwashing.
How many pairs of knickers are you taking?

Me...10..i think. Literally just packing.

So do you all take home a bag of smelly knickers in your suitcase, sometimes 21 of the things? Ugh, I'd rather die than risk my case being searched at customs with so many dirty parachutes inside.

Wash n go. Bring enough for as many days as you are comfortable with, but always wash them before packing, or throw any tatty ones away. Come on are standards slipping or what here FGS! Think of your reputation.

Smelly knickers ! Do you have a medical condition that needs a Drs / clinic appointment for ?

JayeAshe · 26/03/2026 19:32

You'll be showering, right? So just wear your knickers for the soapy bit of the shower, tread them underfoot when you rinse, wring out, hang up and let them dry for the next time. Don't bother to wash them separately! I only own 6 pairs, I'd wear one and take a maybe 4 more .

Okiedokie123 · 26/03/2026 21:29

7 pairs for 7 days is plenty surely. And if you do wash them they would easily dry in a couple of days.

  1. As above said, it's easy to wash and dry them if needed.

Saying that, I took 35 pairs with me on a cruise (for 35 days).

TheNameWasOnceChosen · 26/03/2026 21:49

7 that said 7!!

MarchUsername · 26/03/2026 21:51

2 pairs per day and then 3 spare pairs incase I shit myself which I haven’t done in approx 37 years but this might be the time

BlackboardMonitorVimes · 26/03/2026 22:28

Absolute minimum is 20. 2 pairs a day as standard plus an extra pair for each gym session. I would actually probably go for 30 pairs if I really couldn’t wash. …. but I would ensure I could wash.

BatchCookBabe · 26/03/2026 22:30

For a week. 8 to 10. They are easily washed (and dried) if you run out.

Dalmationday · 26/03/2026 22:31

12

VegQueen · 26/03/2026 22:42

I’d take 14 - 2 per day as I often shower and change before dinner so put on fresh pants. If I was also planning on exercising some mornings, that would require 3 pairs on those days. At that point, I’d probably think it’s better to wash some while there, rather than taking 18 !

Doctor1988 · 26/03/2026 22:44

Usually double so 14 (never need them all 😂)

TheCurious0range · 26/03/2026 22:46

17/18 one pair for each daytime, one pair for each evening, one pair for each gym workout

TinDogTavern · 26/03/2026 22:52

Well this has been an education. I mean, I’m unsurprised that I’m at the minger end of things but two pairs of knickers a day, every day, plus spares? I had no idea women wore more than one pair of knickers a day, as any sort of norm.

I’m going away for 15 days and have packed 23 pairs 😂

Why do you need clean pants for the gym? Seems like a waste!

My parachutes aren't dirty or smelly, just used - do you need a doctor?

I carry 7 pairs plus handwashing soap leaves whenever we travel (for more than 3 days) but we are usually on the motorbike do we are very restricted for luggage. Top tip for drying in hotel rooms is to get a pillowcase, put your wet clothes in (not too much at a time) and blow hot air from the hairdryer whilst jiggling the pillow case. Honesty it works well, especially thermal socks that just wouldn’t dry in 24 hours and we were moving on.

genius tip, thank you

Bring as many as you want. You can get great microfibre very light but comfortable ones in M+S that you can rinse out and they dry overnight or even quicker. That's what I do usually, and remember to bring a peg or two!

Exactly what I was going to say. I used to wear them
for running too.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 27/03/2026 17:07

14
2 per day
One put on in the morning after your shower and the second for of you get changed to go out in the evening.
