Who else thinks London is amazing in the summer?

Went out for coffee in soho and met some really cool and interesting people doing a stranger meetup thing.

Walked around the area for a bit. Went to my old uni to relax and charge my phone in the library.

Then headed back out to meet my friends for some fabulous Mexican food. Such a great day. I love it when the weather is like this.

I love Edinburgh more at this time of year.

PersephoneSmith · 22/03/2026 15:53

The open air theatre on a sunny day is my absolute happy place

archieshepp · 22/03/2026 16:01

I was walking home via central London yesterday and it was so gorgeous, buildings bathed in pink and such a great buzz. I love it here and can't wait for the summer.

Crunchymum · 22/03/2026 16:04

London on a sunny and warm spring day - always.

London during a summer heatwave - horrendous.

London has it's issues and there is plenty to moan about (I'm a life long Londoner) but on a sunny, warm not boiling day there is nowhere else I'd rather be.

EmeraldRoulette · 22/03/2026 16:26

I lived in London for years and absolutely hated it for long before I got to move out

Summer was one of the oddest times. It felt like a complete waste of a sunny day. I am thinking of days when it's actually hot - though not like today when it's probably 15° or something there is it?

But generally, I found the grey buildings and everything really spoiled a sunny day. Sun bouncing off relentless concrete was just not fun.

i'm glad people are still enjoying it! that's great.

LemonPoundCake · 22/03/2026 16:35

Love London when the sun is out.

If we had more consistent good weather - a proper summer! - it would be unbeatable as a world city.

This thread is so exciting as I'm coming to London for a short break in April.

Can any London fans point me in the direction of any street markets with bric a brac/second hand/junk stalls? I remember Kirstie Allsopp shopping in such a place in one of her house renovation shows some time ago but can't remember the name. I'll be in London Monday to Friday so will miss any weekend markets.

Camden market is great and the street food is amazing!

If you go, you can take a canal boat ride called the 'Jenny Wren' (times and prices on their website) into Little Venice and it takes you through part of London Zoo.

The problem with these types of markets is the outrageous prices!
I would recommend taking the uber boat to Greenwich and visiting the Greenwich flea market (which is apparently properly called the Greenwich Vintage Market)

Yes, I do.
Are you reminiscing though, as it's currently early spring?

No good for the PP as it's only open Fri, Sat, Sun.

It's been between 16 and 19 degrees in London this week and really sunny.

dizzydizzydizzy · 22/03/2026 17:26

London is amazing at any time of year! Feel lucky to live there.

Zov · 22/03/2026 17:28

To be fair, many places are amazing in the summer. Probably better than over-populated, smoky, noisy, polluted London!

LunchatthePriory · 22/03/2026 17:31

@PennySweeet @PersephoneSmith Thank you for the tips. I'm on a tight budget so I will probably be browsing rather than buying. I love the idea of the Jenny Wren boat trip and will definitely do that.

Well if it's browsing you want, don't forget to browse a shop called Cyber Dog.

It's a really weird and whacky shop that sells mostly rave outfits and things.

And unless you have children with you, don't forget to browse the sex shop downstairs. Your eyes will never be the same again! 👀😁

London yesterday was glorious, warm and sunny but not too hot. DS1 and I had a great day walking everywhere, we moved out when he was a toddler and I had no inclination to go back much but yesterday may have changed my mind! Similarly Bristol last weekend was gorgeous too

Funny you should say that @Zov because I'm a confirmed country mouse who thought I'd tired of London years ago.

Went back for a few days last month and was blown away by the amazing public transport, the peace and beauty of the parks, the amazing history on every corner, culture everywhere - free galleries and museums left right and centre, the food, the smoothness of how everything runs and surprisingly, how clean it feels compared to the city nearest to me which has become increasingly run down.

Going back again next month for another fix.

Yes I don't think people realise how much greenery there is in London.

Yes, it's still early spring tbough!
If its 9 degrees and chucking it down next week will you still love London in early spring summer?

I just felt sun and warmth and had a packed tube and I thought "summer". I meant a thread about general warmth and sunnyness

Yes of course, given that I love it all year round.

Christmas in London is also amazing.

I've been reading about the London Forest. According to a United Nations a forest is anywhere that’s at least 20 percent trees. London’s a 21 percent trees.

I love how London opens up in the sunshine. We popped to Dulwich today (we moved out to Surrey a few years ago), and it just felt so alive: people eating outside cafés, the park full, people playing tennis, music coming from open windows.

It's London at its best.
