Ozempic- DH not overweight but he’s ordered some

As the title, he’s not overweight though could do with losing a stone or so. He’s over 6’ so carries weight well iyswim and his BMI is currently 25. He has always fluctuated between 22-25 BMI depending on his lifestyle at the time and depending on how busy his (stressful) job is. Essentially if he doesn’t have time to run or eat healthily he will gain a bit and feel rubbish. At other time work will be quieter and he’ll get into running for 6 months and get trim again. He’s run half marathons when he’s at his peak.

I don’t know much about Ozempic but he told me he’s ordered a months worth as he feels rubbish and his clothes are tight, plus his work is a nightmare at the moment so he feels he needs the kickstart.

AIBU to feel uncomfortable or is it fine / normal these days? My worries are:

  1. its not healthy living using drugs to control apetite
  2. as soon as you stop you go back to wherever you were
  3. the alternative is you spend your life on drugs
  4. Surely they must be bad for you? Bad for the liver?
  5. he has weak willpower with eating at times and I’d rather he got on top of it through willpower alone (as he’s done successfully in the past) as I think he feels stronger and better in himself that way
  6. if the drugs reduce appetite how do you ensure you’re getting enough nutrition
  7. are the drugs dangerous?

he’s saying it’s only a temporary step to kickstart him but I feel weird about it. Am I unreasonable / controlling?

This is a side point from the rest of the thread - but this isn’t entirely true. There is more than a stone of weight inside my healthy BMI. I am very short and feel sluggish at the top end of my healthy allocation. I currently need to lose just under stone to get to a BMI of about 20 which is where my body feels healthy (I am only 5ft so there is nowhere for the fat to go - 5lb is a the difference between dress sizes to me, and the top and bottom of my healthy BMI is the difference between a size 6 and a size 14/16)

Want not need. You want to lose weight you do not need to.

My biggest concern would be what he’s ordered and where he’s got it from. If it’s the real deal, Mounjaro or Wegovy from a GPhC registered pharmacy I would let him crack on.

IM not sure no. He said Ozempic but I’ll check. What are the main side effects / issues? I can google this ofc.

delayed gastric emptying ...it's important to mention it to any HCP if he is prescribed any other meds/needs GA or sedation for anything. (aside obvs from the fact it may not be what he thinks it is, depending on where he's ordered it/what he actually gets)

I tried it. I only got through 2 imjections. After each injection I was so violently sick for 36 hours and diarrhea as well. of course I stopped.
