What british tv shows/game shows would you bring back.
was watching the wall with my mum the other day and it low key reminded me of goldenballs for whatever reason. I said to my mum I would love if they brought that back, that was brutal and I loved it and funnily enough we both said at the same time it’s should be rylan Clark to present it as jasper carrott is obviously no longer with us.
other shows I’d love for them to bring back or do another special.
i would love for a royal family Christmas episode every year but I doubt they’d do it without Caroline ahern

goodness gracious me - funny as hell. Although this generation of snowflakes probably won’t like it.

little Britain - another one that wouldn’t go down well with this generation. And yes I’m aware about the scandals surrounding David Williams but it was still hilarious.

Grange Hill but back in london. Like the old times.

I don’t know if any one remembers but absolutely loved children’s ward…

The krypton factor

Yes!!

Also Don’t forget your toothbrush, I used to love that. And Fun House for the kids!

JaneIves · 12/03/2026 11:58

Blockbusters.
Maybe with Bob Mortimer, just so I can hear ‘can I have an E please Bob?’
Once a raver, always a raver.

Any of the comedy shows - Goodness, Gracious me, Smack the Pony, Hale and Pace, Harry Enfield and Chums.

Finally, The Word.

This is going back a bit, but I very much enjoyed Face the Music and Call My Bluff.
Sadly, I think these would be considered too "high brow" today.

Both of these are on BBC4 regularly.

Virtually all the game shows of the 70s and 80s really.

I've recently watched several series of Bullseye and it was awesome. Just "normal" people as competitors and a "normal" host. If they brought it back, you can almost guarantee the host would be the awful talentless Allan Carr and half the contestants would be gay or trans (just like the remake of Blankety Blank!).

@Badbadbunny If they brought Bullseye back? They already have, said so on first page of the thread. Freddie Flintoff hosts. It's shit.

Beadle’s About and You’ve Been Framed

@Rubyroses3 Beadle's About? No he's not, he's been dead for years so you'd have difficulty bringing him back.

The two Ronnie's
Porridge

Love thy neighbour

Another vote for The Krypton Factor.
Does anyone remember Crosswits with Tom O'Connor ?
My ds was only a baby at the time and a terrible sleeper - it used to focus my sleep deprived mind of a morning.

Yeah, I remember that. It was enjoyable crap but designed to catch the audience that had been watching the recently finished Treasure Hunt on C4 (hence keeping Annabel Croft and the helicopter element).

I guess Hunted is a bit of a successor in a way. But Treasure Hunt was still good when they cancelled it. Mistake. Bbc2 brought it back many years later but didn't catch on as it should have (too often abroad; the joy of it being in Britain was viewers at home could join in more).

Hunted lacks a tall blond Scot in black leather chewing the scenery and snapping at his helicoper pilot, but you're right, I suppose it is a successor!

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 12/03/2026 13:12

Don't do that to me OP, I love Jasper Carrott, was gutted for a second there!

Hootersoutsidemywindow · 12/03/2026 14:34

Krypton Factor

Blind Date

And Man Oh Man, where women would push those they didn't fancy into the pool, loved it! Does anyone else remember it?

AmazingGreatAunt · 12/03/2026 14:35

@beguilingeyes
So kind of you to point me to this. As I am not in the UK getting BBC is virtually impossible. Colleagues have told me that a VPN is useful, so will investigate!

RandomUsernameHere · 12/03/2026 14:53

Blind Date and Strange but True.

ilovepixie · 12/03/2026 16:33

The programmes that were good back in the day were good because of the hosts/actors in them. They wouldn’t be the same with different people.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 12/03/2026 16:48

Another vote for Treasure Hunt. And I would love to see Robot wars return, it was so silly and a little bit moving when some poor child's robot was battered to bits by Matilda or the other resident beasts.

That was mind numbing and so so boring.

NFPorterkeeponkeepingonNsoul · 12/03/2026 20:15

Love thy neighbour ..guest appearance Nigel Farage.
Joking ..offensive doesn't even begin to describe it.
Yes the joke was on Eddie (racist) but at the time lots of people thought along those lines
