Family of 5 and we go away x3 per year.

I often go abroad every year, but we don’t necessarily take a family holiday abroad. We mostly have UK family holidays because of the dog. I’ve been abroad twice in 2026 (though no more, 2 UK family holidays planned for rest of the year). I went abroad once last year (just me). Dh took one dc abroad and I took the other the year before (plus eldest had a school trip to Germany). So usually once a year, but not everyone.

Usually 2. I'd like 3 really.

I have one in the Carribbean in the winter and one in summer in Europe, usually Greece.

None 🤷‍♀️

Family of 4 about 6 a year. I knoe its a lot. Sometimes more but its what we value most. Travelling & seeing new cultures and family time ❤️

How do you have enough annual leave for that?

NoodleNuts · 11/03/2026 13:55

I don't get enough annual leave to go abroad for 2 weeks 3 times per year!

How do you have enough annual leave for that?

And money!

jen8556f · 11/03/2026 14:04

It depends where we go. If it’s short haul it can be twice a year, but if long haul we tend to only go once for the year. We have a set budget basically so depends if we blow it on one big holiday or 2 smaller ones. This year is a 2 week long haul holiday
using up most of the budget, although there was some left for Center Parcs. With the state of the world we’ll probably just to Europe next year.

BauhausOfEliott · 11/03/2026 14:41

Just me and DP. It varies but for the last few years we've had a UK or Ireland holiday in the summer, and then have two weeks abroad somewhere warm in the autumn, plus an overseas city break at some point.

This year we're just having one big long-haul trip.

ChangeAgainAgainAgain · 11/03/2026 15:08

Varies, dependant on what we fancy. This year we have 4 booked, varying from 2 nights to 30 nights. They're all abroad, but in Europe .

LlynTegid · 11/03/2026 15:09

It should not be how often but how you travel there. One this year that involves flying, the rest are by Eurostar and onward trains.

mondaytosunday · 11/03/2026 16:21

Three people, once a year, though we didn’t go anywhere last year as we were supposed to go at Christmas but son couldn’t get time off so it’s Easter instead. Away for 15 days.

PurpleDisco · 11/03/2026 16:35

@Greatlemonz why? Does 3 holidays per year not make you happy?

Iocanepowder · 11/03/2026 16:41

Still trying to find the courage to take 2 young kids on a proper holiday abroad.

Other than that, 1 trip to visit my friend.

Before kids it was a few times a year.

NoTouch · 11/03/2026 16:44

Nearly zero. I’ve never liked heat so a lot of holidays don’t appeal to me. We stay in Scotland mostly, some years we might pop over to Ireland - but that doesn’t feel “abroad” as so similar to home.

purpleme12 · 11/03/2026 16:46

Another one who read the thread and can only assume it's to brag

But on the other scale I've had one holiday abroad in 2018 and one last year.
And one in the UK between then
No other holidays

Marissa5 · 11/03/2026 21:36

Single mum on a low ISH salary. I go twice a year. Once to America to stay with friends. Once to France in my dad's camper van!

Nursemumma92 · 11/03/2026 21:39

Family of 4, this is the first time in 8 years and will definitely be the only one this year. Unsure of why you have made this thread 🙄

ainsleysanob · 11/03/2026 21:40

Family of 3. 3-4 times a year.
