Someone I knew got a giant size Chanel bottle of perfume from a promotion!

I’ve had nothing of note

A suite in a hotel on Vancouver island when they messed up our room booking. The bed was huge, we were one level under the penthouse, had a bathroom that overlooked the island and free access to a sauna/hot tub.

Blondeissimo · 06/03/2026 17:05

Four tickets to see Taylor Swift on her Reputation and Eras tours.

TheFutureIs · 06/03/2026 17:06

Festival tickets (already had tickets so it meant I could treat a friend who couldn’t afford them!)

Big box of assorted lamb (funnily enough won at the festival)

Ginormous haul of beauty goodies because I left a review

OSTMusTisNT · 06/03/2026 17:08

£1K Macbook in a radio competition many years ago.

swingingbytheseat · 06/03/2026 17:10

We won tickets to the Olympic opening ceremony off a random financial company . I think they were trying to fill empty seats

Chiefangel · 06/03/2026 17:12

I get free hotel stays every couple of months.

I won a day at a spa

Ordered some boots and got sent two pairs, emailed and explained and was told to keep both. So I sold a pair of course.

Free upgrade at Centerparcs many years ago.

FordExplorer · 06/03/2026 17:18

Absolutely nothing! Never won or been chosen to receive, anything. No perks, no luck!

rainingagainargh · 06/03/2026 17:24

Tintackedsea · 06/03/2026 14:26

33 boxes of mint matchmakers as a supermarket substitute for two boxes of after 8s.

it remains the best day of my life.

This would make my year!

rainingagainargh · 06/03/2026 17:28

I won a Dyson once. Also got free tickets to Wimbledon once through work.
Some free hotel stays as my sister works for an events company and she gets freebies and I sometimes get to go too.
2 free entrance and back stage tickets to V festival many years ago. I couldn’t go so my boyfriend and his mate went and met loads of bands.

Gardenquestion22 · 06/03/2026 19:14

2 week holiday touring India. Every year for 8 years an all expenses paid trip to the States, or Bahamas or Caribbean with DHs job.

Justploddingonandon · 06/03/2026 19:29

A suite at the four seasons. I only got to stay there at all as work were paying for me to attend a conference held there and rooms were discounted enough for attendees to fit into our expense policy, got there and they’d run out of normal rooms do got a one bed suite that was bigger than my flat at the time!
Also got an upgrade to business, but it was on a domestic flight in the US and I barely even noticed the difference.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 06/03/2026 19:44

My favourite freebie was one of my dogs. She was from an accidental litter, and the mother's owner wanted the puppies to go to good homes. Mine was the perfect puppy to take out and about in the community, and when she was a little bit older, she became a star sheepdog, despite people saying that she wouldn't make it because she is too broad-chested, lives in a house, and I'm not from farming stock, so we wouldn't work well together. Too bad, naysayers! We might never be on One Man and His Dog, but we are happy campers 😀

CloudsAreFluffy · 06/03/2026 22:29

I got 2 pairs of really good (and expensive) period pants to wear and comment on as a tester for Mumsnet. Im still using them several years later!

Chinsupmeloves · 06/03/2026 22:32

Click n collect supermarket order, had incorrectly 6 bottles of sprite added to crates but not on bill. Told the guy and he took 5 and left 1 one for me for being honest! Small wins...

FuckRealityBringMeABook · 07/03/2026 08:01

Our childminder's husband worked in chilled food logistics and brought home tons of food they couldn't sell but was perfectly fine to eat. Way too much for her family so she passed on loads. Fed us for about a year, including a massive Christmas dinner and tons of roses for Valentine's day. I was sad when my daughter aged out of her care, I had to start cooking again 😅

MarchUsername · 07/03/2026 08:20

I started a TikTok account for my hobby and I get so many amazing free things that I would normally spend the money on, so it is saving me a fortune!

Rocknrollstar · 07/03/2026 08:56

I won a cruise for two to Antarctica (including flights). It was my dream come true.

RampantIvy · 07/03/2026 09:02

Back in the day when companies had large budgets for entertaining customers I went sailing on the Solent paid for by a supplier. The trip also included a two night stay nearby and limitless food and drink. We all had a really good time.

The icing on the cake was a competition to see who made the best job of steering the boat. Guess who won 😁? I often wonder if having been a sea ranger as a teenager helped.

Squirrel60 · 07/03/2026 09:27

Literally last week on Facebook, I entered a competition from a company I follow, Stinky Squirrel, based in Lancashire. They sell all kinds of gob-smacking candles, wax melts, etc. All cruelty and animal-free.

I'd entered to win a Lunaris candle in a beautiful jar. Worth £24.99.

On Monday, the 2nd of March, she private messaged me on Facebook to say I'd won! She asked for my address, name, etc. and said she'll get it in the post.

I received it on the 4th of March!

The candle, jar and labels are all absolutely gorgeous!

I won't be burning that one; I've left it sealed and am using it as a decoration, but I've placed an actual order for others!

Squirrel60 · 07/03/2026 09:30

TheeNotoriousPIG Oh, how beautiful! X

I got a free front door from a door company because I found thousands of flyers they had had printed and lost (never asked how) they were so grateful they offered me a front door to say thank you, I was so chuffed 😂

Where did you find them ? How do that many leaflets get lost ? Im intrigued!

MoonlessCorridor · 07/03/2026 09:32

I once bought a rather expensive Fendi bag from Selfridges in London and on my birthday they sent me a huge birthday cake. It was actually a bit weird but lovely and I suspect they were trying to lure me into buying more bags but nevertheless it was a nice gesture.

Oh and I wrote a really good review of a perfume on Fragrantica and once the perfume company found out it was me they were so thrilled they sent me a free bottle

Gloriousgardener11 · 07/03/2026 09:34

A set of Le Creuset saucepans from an oven manufacturer when I was a buyer.
I’ve had them for years but rarely use them as they can’t go in the dishwasher.

x2boys · 07/03/2026 09:42

Back in the middle 90,s Heineken put on a series of free festivals over a few summers
In 1995 .e and my housemates phoned key 103 ( radio station) for tickets for the four day festival in Leeds, we got to see some great bands including pop will eat itself ,chumbawamba etc but best of all Pulp headlined on the Saturday night ,they were on the verge of becoming huge!
Brilliant night all for free.

£700 Mulberry duffle coat (30 years ago and still going strong)

Multiple spa stays (some overseas)

Many, many, many, many cosmetic / skin care products. Multiple hundreds.

Samsonite luggage.

Upgrade from Economy to First on a 12hr flight.

Loads more but they’re the things that come to mind.

How did you get all that for ‘free’?
