Does anyone know where sells reading glasses in powers less than +1 ?

I've just spent ££££ on new glasses but just looking for something cheap for when I'm wearing my contacts. I'm coeliac so have to spend more time studying ingredient lists than I'd like.

Temu are great for this sort of thing

Bearsdolovetrees · 01/03/2026 16:42

Pound Stretcher do 0.75.

ASDA glasses are very reasonable. I got 2 pairs of varifocal for a total of £120 last year.

AtlasAscendant · 01/03/2026 16:44

The places I've seen them seem to start from +1.50

I think I need max 1 but possibly a bit lower.

Amazon. I found 0.5 with blue light protection - multipacks at less that £20.00

When I say cheap, I mean less than a tenner :-)

I've bought cheap reading glasses from Primark before. About £2 I seem to remember.

AtlasAscendant · 01/03/2026 16:51

So far I've seen reading glasses for sale in Tesco, Home Bargains and B&M but nothing lower than +1.5

Do you have a branch of Sostrene Grene near you? I know you said preferably less than +1, but if +1 would suit they do a variety of styles. I got a +1 pair I really like for £4.50.

TreesAtSea · 01/03/2026 18:20

Poundland also do reading glasses, but I don't know what strength they are.

Everythingwillbeok · 01/03/2026 18:35

Sostrene grene have amazing reading glasses for £5 had mine for 2 years!

helpfulperson · 01/03/2026 20:15

B&M used to do 1.25.

Lookskywalker · 01/03/2026 20:17

Try Amazon.

PippiLongStockingsPigtails · 01/03/2026 20:20

I’ve got a couple of .50 from Shein. They look nice and do the job.

parkezvous · 01/03/2026 21:14

Sostrene green and tiger

kittykarate · 02/03/2026 10:31

I've seen multipacks of 0.5 and 0.75 on amazon - but you do have to click around to find them

My optician told me to pick up mine from a supermarket.

I got my specs (for over contacts) in B&M for a couple of quid at most.

Neither the supermarket I tried nor B&M do anything with a weak enough power, hence the question.

I've got a couple of good leads now though
