I went in October last year for 15 nights (inc 1 on the plane) including flights, hotels and spending money I spent around £5500.
This included direct flights with Jal, Henn Na hotels in Osaka and Ginza, a Tokyu Stay in Kanazawa and a fantastic ryokan in Kyoto. I went for a Michelin starred Omakase, a day with a private guide. Green car and Gran class on the trains and taxis where necessary, I bought 4 really good knives and quite a few gifts. I don’t really drink alcohol so had maybe 2 beers, but did stop for lots of really good coffees. I also had a head spa in Tokyo and a massage in Kanazawa
Didn’t skimp on anything as it was going to be a once in a lifetime experience. Loved it so much that I’m planning to go back in 2027, this time however I’m expecting to spend around £3,500 all in as a lot of the expensive things I did/bought I wouldn’t be doing again.
I would highly recommend a trip on your own, it really was the best holiday ever. Have you seen the Japan planning thread on the holidays page, it’s a fantastic resource currently on thread 3.
Sorry this has turned into an essay! Any questions im happy to answer
