Times Radio have just reported he's been arrested for misconduct in public office.

BBC just reported it too.

We can now bring you a statement from Thames Valley Police.
It says: "As part of the investigation, we have today arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.
"The man remains in police custody at this time.
"We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance. Please also remember that this case is now active so care should be taken with any publication to avoid being in contempt of court.
Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright added: "Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office.
"It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence.
"We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time."

I was pleased to see this however I think he will get away with it. They always do. I feel like it’s for show. Maybe I’m getting cynical in my old age but I really hope he gets what he deserves.

I may be being cynical but I think he's just a scapegoat for all the other odious toads getting away with it (here's looking at you, Trump). I suppose one is better than none, but it's just a token.

Police are searching properties but unless he is stupid beyond belief he will have got rid of any evidence long before now.

I feel like he is fairly stupid (or at least blinded by arrogance which amounts to the same in many cases) but I do think his aides may have destroyed anything incriminating on his behalf by this point.

I would be very surprised if this goes anywhere, I really would. Why was the Daily Mail conveniently present (admittedly at a distance).

These things take ages because they have to be done properly. The sheer volume of material, consulting probably very niche and rarely used parts of the law, expert advice. The trade off for a proper justice system is that you can’t rush these things, you have to be patient.
