What’s your idea of bliss?

Obviously a dream scenario would be an exotic island with no money worries and a handsome McDreamy….

however, right now, my DH & DS are away swimming (we’re on a caravan holiday) and I’ve just cracked open a beer, got some chocolate and Pringles, and loaded up a game on the Nintendo, all by myself. And it occurred to me the word for this is - utter bliss! What a wonderful Tuesday afternoon

what would be (realistic) utter bliss for you?

Realistic?

Cup of tea, quiet house, blankie and dog.

I'd get bored in about a day if that was my life, it's only good because it's a nice change.

Sleeping late. Cold room warm bed good book. Clean house, all admin up to date, nothing on my to do list. No demands on my time.

onevision · 17/02/2026 23:00

If bliss is an occasional treat you aspire to every so often: Hotel room to myself for a night, my choice of terrible or retro telly to watch and some nice M&S snacks. Do NOT disturb!

PinterandPirandello · 17/02/2026 23:04

A freshly made bed with nice linens, something good on the TV, half a bottle of my favourite wine having had a really nice meal out (so no washing up). Maybe a nice cake on standby from my favourite bakery. Then 9 hours refreshing sleep with an in disturbed lie-in.

Glass of wine in my hand sitting at a musical . Heaven ! Preferably in London , my favourite place ❤️!

Alpacajigsaw · 17/02/2026 23:06

Early night, fresh bedding, kindle

Or cup of tea and a jigsaw puzzle

No one in the house but me. It is clean and tidy. I have just changed the sheets. Bath, bed, book, quiet.

I can’t believe I’m typing this but…my partner, both our boys, cosied up in our bed, watching a film together with a cup of tea - which will last for all of about 10 minutes until the boys get the wriggles and start jumping on us - but those 10 minutes are glorious. Or sitting on Luskentyre beach on the Isle of Harris when it’s sunny (rare!)

Swimming in the sea on a sunny day.

NigelFromAccounts · 17/02/2026 23:14

In a pool or hot tub somewhere (anywhere except the local public swimming pool). Don't mind what the weather is, don't mind who's with me, don't mind where exactly I am. I just love floating.

Child’s pose at the end of a long day

Solitude.

Sitting at a beach bar drinking a caipirinha with my dh in the warm and watching the sun go down

Christmas morning when all the kids have piled into our bedroom with their stockings to open.

Walking my dogs on a freezing morning with a bright blue sky and a frost on the ground

Sitting in the garden in the summer in the morning before anyone else is up with my first coffee of the day

Listening to Jacqueline Du Pre playing Elgar's Cello Concerto in E Minor on full volume

tobee · 17/02/2026 23:31

Sitting on a comfy sun lounger with a good book on a beach on the French Riviera in beautiful sunshine just having swum in clear warm sea; evening ahead plans people watching in a bar followed by meal in a restaurant overlooking the sea.

Or sitting in my house with everyone out, with a great book to read; evening plans to watch some old black & white movie!

LivingForRedWine · 18/02/2026 17:25

Coming home after work to my dh and ds when the weather is awful and we have nowhere to be. The log burner on and a glass of red wine is utter bliss.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 18/02/2026 17:26

4pm on The Friday at the end of the half term

10am on the first Monday of the summer holidays

feels amazing 🤩

Rainydaycat · 18/02/2026 17:26

Being at home. Nothing in my diary. Few drinks in the evening and a curry. Knowing everyone I love is safe and well x
