Does anyone know if you can take a gel ice pack on a flight?

I have an injury which is causing significant discomfort especially at night. Regular icing (multiple times a day) helps a lot.

I fly for a week's holiday tonight. Staying in self catering accomodation which hopefully will at least have an icebox in the fridge.

The airport website says medical icepacks are allowed, but I'm not sure if I'll be expected to proce medical need?

Or perhaps I could buy one at Boots airport?

I'd take it unfrozen, but it's well over the 100ml limit for liquids.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Heathrow, Gatwick and Birmingham have abandoned the 100ml rule. Are you flying hand luggage only? If taking hold luggage I would pack some in there and another one for hand luggage. Whether they sell the gel packs at the airport is another point to look into. Some items can be ordered online for airport collection, but not sure if you have time for this now. Good luck.

Sorry, I should have said. Hand luggage only and the airport hasn't abandoned limits on liquids, although you no longer have to do the clear plastic bag thing.
