Do painter and decorators not normally include radiators in their quotes?

Just curious really. We got a quote for £1250 to decorate our large living room-dining room area. They've stated "all ceilings, walls and woodwork" in their email, but then the guy who turned up said "oh, do you want me to do the doors as well?" I replied a bit confused "yes, they're woodwork aren't they?".

It's almost finished but radiators haven't been touched. Hadn't thought about until now. Is this normal? Been over a decade since we had a decorator in and can't remember..

Our decorator has always done doors and radiators as part of the quote.

I'm not happy because the guy who came to do the quote isn't the one doing the work. Not sure what the point of me meeting the first guy was, talking the job through with him (early Dec), researching his reputation, liaising with him etc only for him to turn up the other day and introduce him to a random family member who he then just (said he'd be back in a couple of days but didn't actually come back at all to help).

Hmm not sure I can agree with you on that one really. The 'main man' usually does the quote but any member of his staff could turn up to do the job. If its his business he probably wants to do the quoting, staff might not be experienced enough to do that side of things. Think that's pretty normal

Well, in that case, would have been good if he'd have mentioned that. Website only mentions him and his brother, as do all the reviews. So was expecting him and his brother.

Was also expecting two people for five days, but we're on day seven and still one or two to go (and no apology from business owner).

If the door is painted wood then i would expect the door to be painted.
Radistprs i wpuld expect the psinter /decorator yo ask. We had painted 1970s radiators so they were repainted .
In other rooms there are more modern or column radiators so we wouldnt expect to them to be painted.
This is just a communication error.
A good painter and decorator will ask so they know your expectations but equally as a customer you need to be specific.
But yes if your door is painted wood then personally i would expect it to be included otherwise room wouldnt look finished
