We've got a day in London and are thinking of going to Greenwich as dh has never been and I've not been since I was a child.

Having done an internet search, it seems there is a lot more to see there than I expected.

What would you visit / Where is worth spending the time or prioritising ?

I'm guessing we'll have from about 10am/10.30 until about 4.30.

Bonus points if anyone can suggest anywhere to eat that won't involve us having to take out a mortgage.

The Fan Museum is quirky and interesting. If you like a good church, Our Lady Star of the Sea is quite stunning.

Agreed this is the covered I think Georgian market. There used to be a really cheap Chinese place in Greenwich but don’t know if it’s still there. The maritime museum isn’t too bad re prices and you can get pizza there.

Noodle Time! It's still there.

Tell me more about Uber boats please.
Would it make sense to do this rather than tube?
Can you just get on (like a tube or bus) and pay, as presumably it isn't an individual vehicle like a normal uber (taxi) ?

We wouldn't have an Oyster, would be using our credit / debit cards to travel

Edited

We pre purchased our ticket but we were staying in Greenwich for a few days and had a day out from there which was pre-planned as we had booked late breakfast at the Sky Garden restaurant. We bought a hop on hop off and got off at the Tower and had a walk around there and then on to Sky Garden. We did a few other hops west and then took the boat as far west as it went and stayed on for the trip back to Greenwich which was a really fab day out.
Sorry that’s not much help to you @JustGiveMeReason but it may help anyone else who’s interested in Greenwich Smile and here’s the link

Once again, thanks to everyone who has helped.

I have a vague memory of standing astride the meantime line on a school trip, and that is all I knew, so this has been extremely helpful. Thank you all.

Oh I have the same one! Must have been a thing! I was only 10 (donkeys years ago Shock) Amazing how things come back to you.
The Queens House had a great exhibition when we went and although the least appealing to us it was actually one of the highlights.
Booking stuff in is a bit tricky due to timings.
Very disappointed with the planet show (another memory from school trip of the planetarium but I think it was in a different place???). Great for kids but maybe not so much for adults.
We stayed at the Ibis, really well placed, helpful staff and very good value.

I just wanted to come back and thank you all for your help.

We had a lovely day and very much enjoyed the pie and mash shop.

As you all said, there was so much to see and we could probably have spent 3 days there.

My highlights for an adult trip would be:
Cutty Sark
walk along the Thames Path - have a drink in the Trafalgar or Cutty Sark pubs
back to the Naval College and Painted Hall
walk up through the park to the Observatory and enjoy the view
recreate your childhood visit and straddle the Meridian Line
