My oldest is 10 today

We are off to Paris to celebrate. He’s never been on a plane. He’s so excited. Time is a thief. 10 years. Bloody hell.

The middle one who will be 8 in May only wants her favourite food and to lie on the beach on her day. We do this on all her birthdays! We leave home by 6 and get back by 10. I love their birthdays. I love them so much. They bring great joy to me.

Well, as a representative of your future self (DS is 13) then 10 is very much still a wonderful age so don’t feel too maudlin yet!!!

I don't need anyone to tell me that. I'm well aware of school holidays. However, I'm also well aware that people have other things in their lives & taking your 10 yo to Paris on their birthday is a great life experience, and family time. Missing a couple of days of school isn't a big deal.

Plus it has nothing to do with you, so no need for you to make comment on that.

We have the hotel booked. Any recommendation for somewhere to eat? We have plans for tomorrow and Friday.

My youngest is 30 next week. It seems like yesterday he was 10. It goes faster the older they get!

I went to Paris when I was 10 (via hovercraft!) and loved it! Your DS will have a lovely and cultured time.

Nah… I’ve just been on MN long enough to recognise a twattish comment early 😅 I knew exactly what that poster was getting at.

It’s been absolutely amazing! The kids have loved it. Our flight was cancelled so we spent hours and hours in the airport but we got here eventually and staying near place de clichy. Kids have loved it. My husband and I have loved it. Today is the big bus day and we have found a really cool Lebanese place to eat tonight. We have eaten like the French for the past 2 days and it’s incredible. My kids
will eat anything. They are so great, love them so much, They are also really into books and there’s this small bookshop that my son wants to visit tonight. Hope it’s not closed by the time we get back. And finally hope he doesn’t buy loads of books as we have a full library at home and have run out of space!
