Without googling, do *you* know how the date of Easter Sunday is calculated?

Happens every year with wild variation. Do you understand why?

Sunday after the full moon after the vernal equinox, but the equinox is assumed to be on the 21st of March, which irl it often isn't. I think that is why Passover (also calculated wrt the moon and the equinox) and the Eastern and Western Easters are not always in the same weekend.

Yes: first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox.

Now I'm going to scroll up and read if I was wrong 😆

The moon?

SENcatsandfish · 11/02/2026 21:04

The first Sunday after something or other

Something to do with the first full moon (or new moon) after the beginning of March?
