Are you tired of the never-ending dismal weather?

I am. In West Yorkshire we've hardly seen any sunshine this year so far. It's been mainly low cloud, mist, fog, drizzle and persistent rain since early January. Last night, for a change, we had wet snow for about two hours so that was mildly exciting. I don't mind it being cold as such as it is winter, after all. But the greyness is so dispiriting. Where are the bright chilly days with blue sky and sunshine - with a hint of warmth?

Join me if you too are experiencing dull weather in your area.

South Wales here. Every time I look at the weather app it's wall to wall rain. 95% rain.

So sick of it!

TheNavyReader · 04/02/2026 11:21

Absolutely joining you .Have moved fairly recently to Northumberland and if it's not raining it's misty or grey . Have barely seen any sunshine .
It's definitely affecting my mood and energy levels.
I usually like winter but this one has been just horrible

Bathbrushes · 04/02/2026 11:22

Yes it’s very depressing. But I remember posting on a similar thread last year and then we had a fairly glorious spring and summer so I’m hopeful.
the summer before was dire. If we get one like that again I’ll cry!

I am so bored of wet dog walks. As is the dog. I look like a mad woman trying to drag a reluctant dog along the road.

99pwithaflake · 04/02/2026 11:24

Yep - I work outside and this is the dreariest winter since I started my business six years ago 😫

TallulahBetty · 04/02/2026 11:27

Pulling up a chair. I hate this time of year. Going out in the dark, getting home in the dark. Never getting any more than a miserable grey 'daylight' and drizzle. MEH

Winteriscoming80 · 04/02/2026 11:28

Yep South Yorkshire here,it’s been grey/miserable/raining for months,I don’t even want heat just some sunshine!

HardworkSendHelp · 04/02/2026 11:29

It’s awful, I am demented with it. I went on Ryanair fare finder and have booked a trip to Spain to cheer me up!

whirlyhead · 04/02/2026 11:30

I live in Mallorca and December and January have had a ton of rain. Everything feels damp and gloomy. At least there will be plenty of water by the time the tourist season starts though!!

TheTecknician · 04/02/2026 11:31

Solidarity people. On the plus side, it's still a little bit light at 5pm so we're heading in the right direction in that respect. But how much lighter it would be without wall to wall cloud. Roll on spring!

Yes. Its the mud too which makes it so dangerous when out walking

toastandegg · 04/02/2026 11:35

Yes it’s awful! As you say cold and bright is fine but I feel like the sun has given up all together and it’s just so damp

Glitterbiscuits · 04/02/2026 11:37

Grey in East Anglia a lot more than usual too.

Buscobel · 04/02/2026 12:28

Don’t worry, there will be people bemoaning the sunshine and warmth when it gets above ten degrees.

We are flooded around here. There were roadworks due for several weeks on one route, but they’ve had to be postponed because that road is now the only route out of the village. Today is dry. The forecast tomorrow is abysmal.

Musicaltheatremum · 04/02/2026 12:28

Edinburgh and awful here. We went to Fuerteventura last week and although it was chillier than usual it was still lovely having daylight and light cloud. It was a real boost. I'm going to go somewhere next January too or maybe February so we have it look forward too and by the time we get back it's march!

Pointynoseowner · 04/02/2026 12:33

Shropshire here, it's awful. The grey seems to hang a foot above your head. Not worried about the temperature as long as the sun is shining. Even the dogs seem effected.

CheeseNinja · 04/02/2026 12:36

NI here. It’s been strong wind and rain since Christmas. More rain coming. Im sick of it.

ThePoshUns · 04/02/2026 12:37

Yes I’ve been trying to stay positive, but it’s beaten me. I love getting out and walking, 10000 steps a day minimum. Was 2500 yesterday.

MidnightPatrol · 04/02/2026 12:38

This week it has felt as though the sky might actually touch the ground, so looming is the grey

TheTecknician · 04/02/2026 12:41

I'm pleased to say the fog has lifted at home. It's just mist now, but no rain. Furthermore, I saw several snowdrops and one yellow crocus on my drive back from town. So hurrah! I wonder where all the anticyclones are?

I usually don’t mind winter but I’ve been far more cold this year even in thermals. Sick of the endless rain and ready for spring.

TheHoneyPot · 04/02/2026 12:54

Yup, sick of it now. Currently walking the dog on my lunch and it is just so grey and depressing. It’s been 12 days since the last blue sky day here, and before that I think it had been 10 days so really, we’ve had no sun at all this year so far. Just so fed up of it now.

I’ve spoken to a few friends who are all feeling down the last few weeks and I think the weather is playing a big part. Roll on spring!!

Glitchymn1 · 04/02/2026 12:55

I don’t mind it, I’m dreading summer. I’ll see myself out. 🤣

I promised I wouldn’t complain about the heat last year and stuck to it. Even when sitting in a boiling office.

HelpMeGetThrough · 04/02/2026 13:17

It’s bloody awful. I’m in Cornwall and since Storm Bastard 4 weeks ago, we’ve had endless high winds, rain and weather warnings. No chance of rebuilding my fence as the ground is too wet, difficult to air the house out, as soon as you open a window, it’s heavy windy and rain.

I just hope the summer is ridiculously hot and sunny. Mind you, there’ll be threads on here with people whinging about it, just like we are now.
