Things that make you happy

I love the bunch of daffodils that are brightening up my sitting room. I also used my new mandoline to make potato dauphinoise and it took about a third of the time that slicing with a knife usually takes. What's making you happy at the moment?

Warm sun on my face, watching the waves rise and fall at the seaside, wandering through a forest, waking up in the middle of the night to find my room bathed in silvery moonlight, the rustling of leaves..

A hot cup of tea in my quiet kitchen, first thing in the morning before everyone else gets up.

When someone compliments the behaviour of my children (all teenagers now). It happened last week after a family funeral. An old friend who attended contacted my husband to say how much he enjoyed talking to our kids and how polite and articulate they were.
This always makes my heart swell. The day to day stuff of raising teenagers makes you wonder if you ever get anything right but when you get lovely feedback from others on how they deport themselves it makes me so proud of them.
