I've had a parking fine from a company that operates parking at a local motorway service station. Basically I went there in the morning on the way to work, bought a takeaway coffee, and left. Then that evening I went back to buy some snacks, and was in and out in a matter of minutes.
The letter states that I arrived in the morning and left in the evening, leaving my car there for 12 hours. Clearly this is not the case, and I understand that this situation is quite common when people go to a place twice in a day. Somehow the cameras get mixed up.
I plan to appeal, and I can obtain proof from work that I was at work all day, and not parked at the service station! My work car park has CCTV, although no one seems to know how to get photos from it.
My concern is that I've read the Trustpilot reviews on this parking company, and they seemingly either ignore or reject all appeals (even those with compelling evidence), and just send increasingly threatening letters, eventually leading to court in some cases. Of course there's no phone number, just an email address. People have said they ended up with court costs and fines for non payment, despite having evidence proving their innocence.
Does anyone have any experience of this? I'm just trying to prepare for what might happen.
Thanks
