Best way to clean

Hi,

I have been really busy at work, and I have got behind on my cleaning. I have a studio flat. It's literally one kitchen, one bedroom/sitting room and one bathroom. However, I have a lot of stuff.

Do you know when you get a bit behind with cleaning, the task just seems so hard. I don't know where to start.

So I need to clean the bathroom,
Hoover and mop the floors,
Sort out dirty clothes, put away a lot of clean clothes
Clean all kitchen surfaces
Wash dirty cups and plates (don't have dishwasher)
Put away some stuff that is on chairs

I'm so tired from a busy job, when I go in to start cleaning. I just feel overwhelmed. I know I need to do one task at a time.

Has anyone got any useful tips for cleaning, please?

Objectively, you have 3 rooms and there is only you so the bigger issue is you need to change your habits to avoid becoming so overwhelmed. For example, you mention needing to wash up all the cups. If you just reuse the same cup you can wash it up in the time it takes for the kettle to boil. If you make a habit of folding and putting away a load of laundry before you sit down and relax then it never builds up. If you always put clothes back on a hangar after trying on outfits. I clean the toilet after using it. I clean the shower a couple of times a week when I get in it. I empty the bathroom bin as soon as it's full. I do the bathroom floor, mirrors tiles etc once a week. I have to keep on top of it because I have a big house and two teenagers and a husband so we have 3 people's mess as well as very busy jobs.

If you follow the One Touch system then there is no tidying
I think this is why people find cleaning so overwhelming, they have to spend ages tidying first
Exhausting!

@CheeseSconeGirl @Fupoffyagrasshole how is it helpful or kind to tell OP you would never have let it get messy? That is not just useless to her at the moment, it's sticking the boot in.

OP: please help, I'm struggling with this
PP: I would never have this problem

A bit of empathy wouldn't go amiss.

Well once she’s on top of it then these tools like - make sure you have the dishwasher empty and refilled before bed and the laundry put away before bed every day to stop it getting out of control is a good tip and I’m inside how it isn’t helpful advice.

otherwise it will just keep getting out of control and back to square one again.

Op things on chairs and that need to be put away - I put all of it in a laundry basket so it’s all in one place and I can get to putting it away later when I’ve time ! And it’s neater looking if it’s just in a basket !!

also with laundry I just fold on front of tv and fold it and put back in the basket then basket comes to bedroom and I put the clothes away just before bed or else I just leave it to tomorrow when I get in from
work..

again this is a way for it to not be overwhelming but half the job is done (folding) then the putting away can be a separate task.
