When did the phrase ‘how to deal with it’ change?

When did it shorten to ‘how to deal?’ I keep seeing it phrased that way but I would never say ‘how to deal’ in real life without a ‘with it’ on the end. Am I alone in this? Does everyone say it the new way? Is it American? 😆

This probably just me but without extra context they mean two slightly different things to me - ‘how to deal?’ Would be how to manage something emotionally whereas ‘how to deal with it?’ I would assume they were asking for practical advice

Agree with PP. How to deal is like ‘how to cope’ whereas dealing with it would be finding a real solution.

Thanks, I’d not considered that they could have slightly different meanings. To me coping/ dealing with it are the same.
