Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

As usual, I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Girl cat's been down for her breakfast; boy cat must have gone back to sleep - he was laid along my legs when I got up, I thought he'd follow me like he usually does.

I've got the washer going with the first of three loads for today (2 towels, one darks) and will shift shortly to wash up last night's tea pots. First job is take my tablets & sort morning tablets for the coming week though.

We haven't really got much planned for the day. I'll do some crafting, I think, maybe clear out another cupboard. Dd2 sent me a text in the middle of the night asking me to make sure she's up by 10:30, so I'll do that. She spent a lot of yesterday evening sat with me, completing past exam papers, & wanted to carry on today.

Later on, we'll have gammon for tea. Not sure what accompaniments it'll have yet 🤔. I'll see what dd fancies when she's up. We'll have to nip to the shop for some potatoes though, I think.

After that, I'll have my much needed Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, sort my things for the coming week at work (mock ofstead...so looking forward to it 🙄), and settle down with my new book for an hour or so before an early night 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

I'm alone today (just started a thread about it) feeling a bit low. I'm on cup of tea 2 , and watching stranger things at the moment. Will do gym later and I'm also having gammon for tea, I've got red cabbage to repeat from Christmas to go with as it was so good!
I am not looking forward to my week at work (teacher) so I will also be prepping for the week food and clothes wise etc

Kim82 · 18/01/2026 09:36

Good morning everyone. I was up nice and early today and had an hour to myself and it was lovely and peaceful.

I need to get off my backside and get ready as I’m taking dd11 to the local trampoline park and meeting up and my sister and dniece there. We’re booked in at 10am and I’m still in my pjs yet!

We’ve got no plans for the rest of the day and we’ll just potter around the house. I need to iron school and work clothes and do a wash load of towels but that’s all that needs to be done.

I don’t know what to have for tea, we have a few options so I’ll see what I can be bothered making later on then I’ll sit in front of the tv this evening before getting an early night ready for work again this week.

BCBird · 18/01/2026 09:37

Hi. I'm under the weather at the moment so it will be an easy day for me. Will take dog round the block snd spend rest of day scrolling and reading. Might listen to a podcast or two. Feeling a bit sorry for myself. Good luck with work. I'm doing supply teaching after retiring early- won't be available till I pick up though.

JacknDiane · 18/01/2026 09:38

Im still in bed. I keep waiting up sooo early, its driving me mad.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 18/01/2026 09:41

Good morning lucysman and others. I've been up for a while. I've had two coffees and a cuppa with two slices of toast. The tumble dryer is on, busily drying dds washing. The washing machine will go on soon to wash more of her stuff. Her heating has broken down and she has no hot water. So Widow Twankie to the rescue!
I have a little housework to do when I can be bothered to get dressed. Beyond that, I'll potter about. Some steak to throw in the slow cooker and dinner will be sorted. Enjoy your day all.

DilemmaDelilah · 18/01/2026 09:57

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I am palpitation-free this morning! Yaaaay! The first time in 13 days. So I have celebrated by booking a swimming session for tomorrow. I have also asked Mr Dilemma to get my walking pad out so that I can get some gentle exercise today.

Apart from that, I have no plans for today. I have already done some online clothes shopping as I realised I am woefully short of nice things to wear on holiday (and I'm very excited!).

Mr Dilemma's stew yesterday was delicious (I did make a few suggestions, but apparently it's what he would have done anyway.... I'm not totally convinced...). We're having beef stir fry tonight with LOTS of vegetables. I made some stock yesterday with the vegetable trimmings from the stew, so I might make soup for lunch. Mr Dilemma won't be keen on that so I probably won't ask his opinion before I do it.... and he will like it anyway.

NorthernDramaLlama · 18/01/2026 09:57

Good morning, all!
I’m channeling my inner domestic goddess today. I’ve felt rubbish all week, so I haven’t had the energy to do much at all.
Gammon is bubbling away, bread dough is on its first rise, I’m about to do the small amount of ironing (not much since I’ve mainly been in lounge wear) and then I’m going for a ridiculously hot bubble bath.
If it stays dry I’ll attempt a dog walk. Poor DP has been doing all the dog walking alone this week and I haven’t had missed that time with him and the pooch.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 18/01/2026 10:22

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Still in bed scrolling & have deleted over 100 E Mails. I get so much crap! DH & I have had
a cuppa made by me & I’ll make another in a bit. DH has just come out of the bathroom & gone down to make his daily porridge. I’ll have malted choc wheats again. DD17 has a friend round that she hasn’t seen for ages & they’re giggling away in her room. I’m going to try on a pile of clothes which may end up on Vinted. Need to decide what to do with some of DD’s clothes that have been sitting in a basket for weeks. I gave her a deadline to sort them herself which has passed. Not much planned for today really. I should go for a walk. Nice easy tea of pizzas. I discovered Tescos lasagne pizza ( frozen) which sounds weird but is actually really good! They do a cheeseburger one too. Call The Midwife tonight then a film ( DH discovered a section on Netflix which has films that are 90 minutes long). Oh yes I must clean the kitchen surfaces & put a load of pillows in bin bags to be collected this aft for the homeless.

DancingLions · 18/01/2026 10:42

Good morning everyone. I had a really stressful weekend last weekend and next weekend will be busy. So for this one I’m just relaxing. I’ll do some crafting. DS bought me the Lego record player for Christmas and I haven’t had a chance to make it yet, so I think I’ll do that. Something simple for dinner.

I started a series on Apple TV just as my free trials about to end, a bit silly really! So will watch a couple more episodes of that and see if it’s worth keeping for a month to watch that.

shouldofgotamortage · 18/01/2026 10:44

Not much. Sold ds14 old phone for him this morning on marketplace so had to get up at the crack of dawn. On my third load of washing while making sure ds10 doesn’t break the tv with his VR. Other than that make spanish chicken for tea and all the usual sunday chores!

thebeautifulsky · 18/01/2026 11:21

Good morning everyone. Up bright and early this morning. Had a big bowl of porridge and blueberries for breakfast followed by a brisk walk up the hills. I love my daily walk and feel so much better for it. I'm sat in the kitchen with a coffee now. DH is cleaning out the car. I'm about to start preparing vegetables for Sunday lunch. We're having chicken breasts wrapped in streaky bacon, roasted potatoes, parsnips and lots of green vegetables. Oh, and homemade Yorkshire puddings as requested by DH and DD. The family will roll up any time after noon I think. DD is bringing pudding.

When they've gone, DH and I will have a quick clean around then settle down to either a film or listen to music. Just toast and a cuppa for dinner. We've got a busy week coming up so are making the most of a chilled Sunday.

Lemondessert · 18/01/2026 11:21

Today involves the football run with dc but it’s not raining or freezing so I’m happy with that. Just finishing some work off in bed. I have been up and had a quick house clean. Sausage casserole for tea I think. Enjoy your Sundays all!

Tangerinesattack · 18/01/2026 11:38

Morning all. Planning a quietly productive day today. DH and DS are playing Zelda together then DH is going to undercoat the hall window sill. I've got a little bit of marking to do then I'm going to try and do a big tidy upstairs. I want to plan our trip to Paris in 3 weeks and get checked in plus I've got a few other bits to do. Might try and find a french TV show to watch later and I'd like to do a bit of knitting. DH is making an Austrian meal for dinner (spicery kit) so that should be tasty and we've got a lovely bottle of Moldovan wine to go. Very international Sunday. Have a lovely day everyone!

Tangerinesattack · 18/01/2026 11:41

Oh, and we finished our Poirot jigsaw yesterday so have started the Art Cat one I got for Christmas. Will definitely do some of that later.

BauhausOfEliott · 18/01/2026 11:45

I’m currently sitting in bed with my second cup of tea. I’ve been awake since about 9am but have been listening to Radio 4 and reading in bed. DP got up at about 10.30am and went downstairs, I assume he’s had breakfast but we’re out of bread for toast and we don’t have any bacon or sausages to go with eggs so I’m guessing he had granola or porridge. I can hear him listening to 6Music.

We need to do a big supermarket shop this afternoon which I loathe, so I’m dreading that. I don’t know what we’ll have for dinner - we often go out for a curry on Sunday nights but I’m trying to lose a bit of weight and we had a Chinese takeaway last night, so ideally I need to have something less indulgent.

No real plans. It’s absolutely belting down with rain so I don’t fancy going out anywhere - I’ll probably do some writing and might see if I can persuade DP to settle down to watch a film with me, but he isn’t actually of a film watcher. Last weekend we watched the Del Toro version of Frankenstein which isn’t his usual thing but he did say he quite enjoyed it.

Simonjt · 18/01/2026 11:48

Good morning all, I just made it before the afternoon hits. I hope everyones sunday is okay.

We’ve been swimming this morning, I have a job interview tomorrow so I’m doing some prep for that, its round three for the same job ao fingers crossed it goes okay. I was made redundant in November, so I’m looking forward to getting back to work.

Our son is at a friends house on a play date, our daughter is playing mermaids in the bath with Papa, poor Papa 🤣

We’re going to watch the last two episodes of heated rivalry tonight, sometime my husband is also going to complete his master plan to replace me with Connor Storrie 🤣

zingally · 18/01/2026 11:49

Nothing much planned for today!
Will probably put a wash on shortly, and the kitchen needs a good wipe round.

Next job is a bit of printing needs doing for work next week, but that's a pretty short job. 20 minutes ish.

Dinner tonight will probably be a freezer job. I'm thinking something like fish fingers and veg.

Zippedydodah · 18/01/2026 11:53

Oh crumbs 🫣I totally forgot to look for you yesterday @lucysmam , and I’ve barely scraped into today’s!
It’s a miserable foggy, damp and cold day here, I cannot get warm despite wearing layers and lighting the wood burner. I have ZDog2 sitting on my lap yet I’m feeling cold.
There’s a pork joint in the oven, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and green beans and a banoffee pie for dessert.
I am hoping to start an acrylics painting this week, I have all the gear but no idea…….so I’m watching YouTube for inspiration and advice. My friend and I went to an artists shop yesterday, she’s a brilliant artist who will help me I’m sure, and she helped choose the materials I will need.
Besides that I have little on this week.

Ahhhblissful · 18/01/2026 11:55

I got out of bed at 11 am.
Having coffee then shower more coffee.
Then im going to binge online alday and do some temu shopping.
No house work no chores to do.

ToadRage · 18/01/2026 11:58

My husband is out, my friend is coming over in a bit, we will have snacks and watch movies then we will have takeaway for dinner. She comes over about once a month, was in my bubble during covid. We chat and i feel she recharges me. No judgment, no expectations.

Thislittlekitten · 18/01/2026 12:29

Afternoon everyone.

Just home after standing watching DS at rugby. I’m frozen.

DH has made us breakfast wraps. Even home made wraps. They are delish. I’ve a ton of ironing to do. Plus a shop for pack lunch and tea.

Hoping to read and jus chill
out today really.

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 18/01/2026 13:02

Last week was my first week back at work after my dad passed away at Christmas. I feel emotionally and mentally drained. I work with children so need to put a smile on for them. Still dealing with dad's estate etc every day there seems a new job/visit to the bank/ visit to the post office added to my list.

Had way to much to drink last night which isn't like me at all. So I've had a shower put on clean pjs and I'm back in my bed. Back of my throat has been a bit sore the last couple of days so no doubt I'm coming down with something 🙄 going to have a nap then read my book/watch Netflix

MummyInTheNecropolis · 18/01/2026 13:17

I was up at 6.30, which is actually late for me, I can never sleep in anymore! Had a coffee on the sofa with the cat while scrolling on my phone. Went to a new martial arts gym at 9.30 for a free Thai boxing taster class, it was so much fun, met lots of lovely people. Popped to Sainsbury’s on my way home for a few bits then came home, had some lunch and am just relaxing on the sofa again now. In half an hour I’m going to a free local fitness festival in the park where I’m doing 2 new exercise classes. Should be home around 4, will have a soak in the bath and watch some tv.

I’ve some leftover chicken, couscous and roasted veg for dinner so no cooking tonight. DD is at her boyfriend’s so I’ve got the house to myself. I’m also a teacher but I’m already sorted for next week so not much to do other than make up a few work lunches and get my clothes ready for the morning.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 18/01/2026 13:17
