Saturday night and doing the shopping for delivery and need yet another pair of rubber gloves. Feels un-environmental not a word I know to simply chuck them.

Answers on a postcard please, I shall pass the time with gin and the night manager 🤣

Turn one inside out and you have a right handed glove.

Make friends with a left handed person. I assume the right ones wear out quicker because you're right handed!?

minisoksmakehardwork · 17/01/2026 20:05

If they’re unlined turn one inside out. Mine are lined so doesn’t work the same.

otherwise another tip is cut them to make elastic bands. Mum always used to do this with hers. So useful in the kitchen or shed.

You could switch to buying Marigolds, they have a scheme where you can send them off for recycling.

Marigold and TerraCycle

I'm confused as to why you need rubber gloves to do shopping?

newrubylane · 17/01/2026 20:12

Make pop up rubber glove chickens?

Fromage · 17/01/2026 20:12

Inflate them and sell them as balloons.

Passthecake30 · 17/01/2026 20:12

We turn the extra lefts inside out

ViaRia01 · 17/01/2026 20:13

I’m so confused. Why do you only wear the right hand glove?

LuckyCharmz · 17/01/2026 20:13

First post nailed it, turn one inside out.

I don’t use rubber gloves much, certainly not for shopping, but have cerebral palsy so really only need the left gloves - I’ll have them.

Cut the sleeve and palm parts into large pieces and use them for jar opening

Sausagescanfly · 17/01/2026 20:18

Do you not have a left hand? Maybe make friends with someone missing their right hand.

Turn one inside out and you have a right handed glove.

This is utter genius. Why have I never thought of this.

ResusciAnnie · 17/01/2026 20:19

Why do you need more if you’ve already got loads?!

I wear the left hand glove on my right hand

Turn one inside out and you have a right handed glove.

This is what I do.

OriginalUsername2 · 17/01/2026 20:24

I don’t use the left hands either, I only use them for cleaning with my right hand and just never bother putting the left one on.

FamingolosForDays · 17/01/2026 20:24

This is crucial information that I missed out in the OP. I've only had one gin. I am drinking it with my right hand. 🤔

Turn one inside out and you have a right handed glove.

This is just... far too sensible for me. I can't believe I didn't think of this.

For all those asking, yes I do wear both but I appear to wear through the right hand gloves much faster than the left when washing up/cleaning.

Turn one inside out and you have a right handed glove.

This what I do if I one springs a leak. I save the good glove, start a new pair then when I get a leak in one of those, I match it up with the spare from the previous pair, turning one inside out if I need to so that I have a left & right .
