Just that really, I want to stop feeling so stressed and constantly thinking of ways I can do more, get more, look better, be a better person/parent. I’m exhausted with my constant need to do better.. if that makes sense.

Why the need to do better? Just be authentic. If you have a fear of judgement then address that.

Treat yourself as you would do your child – you wouldn't value him/her only on the basis of what they can do/get/look like, so don't do it to yourself. Write down all the things you like about yourself instead.

There’s a book called Heart Steps by Julia Cameron that I read when I feel like this..it has short, page long affirmations and declarations that help me feel satisfied and fulfilled with life.

I find that a gratitude journal and daily affirmations help me.
Adult colouring books are very calming, as are creative activities like tapestry, cross stitch or diamond painting.

Taking a holiday in countryside or coast has the most calming effect for me.
Gratitude diary for all you already have to be thankful for in your life and what you already are ‘ just as you are ‘

Get outside and walk. Ideally alone.

I feel like this. I guess it is a type of obsessive thinking.

For me, I think it is linked to stress at work. But short of changing my job or career, I don't know how to deal with it.

In the past, I found meditation helped reduce obsessive thoughts.

Use social media less, especially algorithm driven content like instagram.

Bringemout · 18/01/2026 06:47

I moved into my own bedroom. I feel so much happier, I sleep with a fleece blanket and just being alone with myself and cozy really helps my sense of peace. I’m much more pleasant to be around. This sounds silly but just being without having to interact with anyone else is so bloody nice.

Yoga.

mellongoose · 18/01/2026 07:08

Walk, swim, yoga. Being alone at home (rare).

coronafiona · 18/01/2026 08:18

Yoga, warm shower and an early night works for me. And intake magnesium which helps with sleep quality. Also time alone, time walking in the country helps.
