Our is white new balance trainers, White Nike socks pulled up and over dark grey or black lululemon leggings and a hoodie (usually adanola) - then a Canada goose coat

I can tell you what I wear. WFH days jeans, trainers and sweatshirt, office days black trousers, boots and either a shirt and/or jumper depending on the season.

DC goes to wrap-around clubs so I rarely see the school run catwalk.

Am intrigued why this thread started - OP what do you wear? Is it just mums you’re interested in or dads?

Oh, dads have jobs in the OP’s world. It’s only ‘mummies’ who wear a school run ‘uniform’ because they don’t. Apparently.

It’s all wellies and dogs round here. I don’t have a dog, so I like to wear a jumper with a cat on, just to nail my colours to the mast.

Please tell me you do drop off by horse!

🤣 nah, I muck out before drop off then head back after drop off!

Your children must go to the same school as mine could have written this word for word 😂

I live 2 minutes from a school, not a mum. I’ve often been taken for a mum but some of the dads (that offended me slightly!).

There's one mum the others cattily called Amanda from Motherland, she wears trendy jeans with sweatshirts, other mum wore light padded jacket with jeans or joggers (she went running after school drop off), another mum who’s German and a photographer wears anything from tweed jacket with jeans to her DH’s floral shirt. All totally different.

I’m past school aged dc but here PARENTS (dads do the school run here too, where do you live that it’s just mums?) tend to be farmers or artists so we have a real mix of boho paint splattered dungarees and wellies with boiler suits. Sometimes it’s hard to work out who’s who.

Parker231 · 01/02/2026 19:30

Am so glad that it was DH who dropped off at breakfast club whereas I raced into after school club on the last minute. Rarely saw any other parents. Never did a school gates drop off - phew!

I think its quite an interesting topic to be fair. Seeing that the thread has been started I am interested what is worn at school drop off off and seeing thedifferences in fashions or style. However I have no interest in what dad's are wearing.

I dont do a school run but I am often at school gates at drop off and pick up time in the town where I work.

There does seem to be a trend that people have an al.ost uniform approch to to what they wear at individua schools.

Most of the schools are as op described and, although not exactly glamour wear, they look immaculate with hair usually long and dyed shades of light and dark blonde, false eyelashes, nails and make up done, all slim and all interchangeable with each other.( I have never achieved a day time polished look in my life and I am quite envious! 😆)

In the more rural areas there is definitely a divide. Some mums are from working farms and will come in old leggings, old jackets , little or no make up and wellies or hiking style boots. I hardly recognise them when I see them out of their working clothes glammed up on an evening out. At the same school you will get the affluent country mums who probably last went to a farm when they were in year 5. They have expensive cars, expensive clothes and expensive ( i guess) make up and beauty treatments.

There are one or two schools that have a few mums in pjs and a pufa jacket.

None of what I am saying is a criticism or judgeing anyone.
It's just interesting how people almost become tribal and want to fit in with each other. Over the years I sometimes wonder who starts a particular look at school and why that person's look gets adopted.

What do the dads wear?

New balance trainers, black shorts/jogger style shorts, white nike socks and a north face jacket of some sort.

Everyone is seemingly off to the gym 😂

I hear you OP.

School mum's round hear are predominantly the same as you said - trainers, socks over sweatty betty leggings, big coat.

Occasionally in office wear, or wide leg/ barrel/ mom jeans plus trainers and big coat.

Were fairly rural, and a lot of part time/ wfh types so casual clothes/ boots for walking in mud.

I never thought of it as a 'uniform' until I visited my neices school down south, and fashion seemed quite different - no leggings in sight. Love the idea of regional fashion ie brands worn near the coast/ hospital attire etc.
