Advice on being away from my partner the first few weeks of baby's life?

Because of work commitments my partner has to move countries a week after my due date. At this point we are hoping he's around for the actual birth. We'll be trying to get documents ready ASAP so we can join him quickly but even so, it's very dependant on how both me and baby feel in the first few weeks.

His parents are flying over to meet the baby and help, my mom will too. I'm also dreading a little bit having too many people around and getting constant unsolicited advice but as a first time mom I'm also very grateful to have these people around. I also know I'll be missing my partner terribly.

Has anyone had similar situations? How did you make it work?

I was at my dd birth but deployed on military operations 12 weeks later for 4 months. One phone call a week. Blueys (military mail). Aye. Hard.

Wee one screamed when I hugged her on return but calmed down when I gave her my dog tags: BFFs then!

Just gotta hang in, keep in contact, be patient, talk.
