If you’re 50 / peri / menopausal which multivitamins with B12 do you take?

I’m 50 and have been taking Vitabiotics Well Woman for the past few months which has a range of vitamins plus iron. However, I read recently that iron can be dangerous after menopause as too much can build up in your blood compared to when you're menstruating every month!

I started taking wellwoman to help combat tiredness as I like the amount of the B vitamins in it. I think it’s helped but maybe I should be taking Menopause or 50plus vitabiotics as they have less iron or even another brand without iron which is hard to find?

What do you all do?

TIA

I did not know that about iron! I thought menopause would mean lower iron. I've given up giving blood for that reason as I felt so weedy after the last time.

I’m 52, in peri & take Menopace Max.

I gave blood last month & they didn’t comment on my iron levels being high so I assume it was normal.

Ok thank you. I’m currently looking for a good iron free menopausal multivitamin.

The amount of iron you get in a multi vitamin is extremely unlikely to elevate your levels the dose just isn’t high enough.if you’re concerned get a blood test for ferritin, if your levels are below 70 you need to supplement anyway and if below 30 you will need prescription strength supplements.

I'm 45 but I'll sneak in anyway. I take magnesium biglycinate, Vitamin B complex and vitamin D. I don't take multivitamins as I try to get this through diet. I take the vit B and vit D because I am prone to deficiency. I take the magnesium because it makes my anxiety and disrupted sleep much better.

I've never heard of too much iron being a problem. You certainly wouldn't get too much from a multivitamin. They tend to have really low doses.
