Vinted - was i scammed...anyone else had this happen to them?

I recently sold a bundle on vinted to a buyer which had been double bagged and tapped to protect it in transit.

I received a notification from Vinted to say they put the order in hold as an issue was raised by the buyer with parcel claiming it arrived ripped open with items missing.

I was horrified as nothing like this has ever happened before. The buyer didn't message me either. Vinted got in contact with me asking for proof of packaging and I gave a photo of another package to show how I normally back and suggest to look at my feedback from buyers which quote how well the items were packed and if they could ask rhe buyer which items were missing.

Then less than 24 hours later I was told they wouldn't pay me as they believed the items were incorrectly packed and sided with the buyer who was not obligated to send the items in the package back and they would also receive a full refund under the buyer's protection scheme.

After the decision was made, I contacted the buyer and apologised. Also asking if they could confirm what was missing and they appear to have ghosted me.

I can't tell if I have been scammed and if anyone else has been in this position. I have been in two minds whether to keep selling on Vinted as they just didn't appear to care for me.

What are you talking about? This was a drugs raid? It doesn’t say anything about Vinted (with a caveat I haven’t watched the video, but the raid was obviously due to the Class A drugs not second hand clothing).

@lisar47 it’s Operation Calcite not “tactile”. And that’s still nothing to do with Vinted and someone reporting a package being delivered that’s been damaged.

@lisar47 https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/shock-100-police-officers-descend-30063754.amp

A long running serious crime investigation that involved millions of pounds of money from drugs and other criminal activity being money laundered through illegal business and fronts. Nothing to do with Vinted parcels and the OPs issue!

I think you’ve linked the wrong article as it says that was a drugs raid on an established drugs ring

@lisar47 maybe start your own thread if you want to discuss something that’s massively irrelevant to the OPs post and question.

@Pinkponyclubpub Do you have any option via Vinted to further challenge their decision? Can you continue to message them via the Help section and ask for a review?

The other option might be to contact the delivery company directly and take it up with them.

No I don't. Vinted were coming across as very dismissive and the matter is done and dealt with. The frustrating thing that got me was that they said the buyer would be contacted to return the items if they wish to be but were not obliged to return them. I wanted to know what was missing so I was aware.

If I was a buyer and it happened to me - I would taken photos upon pick up if it was damaged before opening it then take a photo to show what was missing.

Did you receive all your items ok?

Yes, because it was crafting stuff in a box - they probably thought it’d be something more exciting!

I'm on the other side ,I've just received a poorly packaged item which was empty as it had fallen out of the package. I'm getting a bit fed up with Vinted in general and used to buy loads.

I am too, I’ve had a couple of transactions recently where the seller has not sent the item out at all and they’ve been auto cancelled, and they’ve not communicated either (but are still active). Just cancel straight away so I can buy the item elsewhere straight away, rather than making me wait a week to find out 😬

TartanMammy · 16/01/2026 09:50

I'm getting really sick of this kind of thing on vinted. I've had one recently buyer claimed empty parcel, another claimed item was stained and another claimed missing parts.
None of these are true, all my items were pristine! I always list any flaws and my other feedback shows I'm a vet reliable seller. But now I'm out of pocket, no cash and no items, and it seems nothing I can do about it.

I think the buys know that all the need to do I raise as case and they'll get a refund.

It's a shame as there's no where else to sell really, eBay has died a death and Facebook marketplace is pain in the arse.
