What shall I do with these toenails [grim but light hearted]?

Warning - this thread is not about nail art.

DP doesn't clip his toenails.
He rips off the white bit when they get too long.
He has a horrible habit of doing this in bed.

We don't share a bed so I'm not usually around then he does it.

I know. I know. He's wonderful in every other way.

This morning I went into the spare room where he slept last night. There are two toenails on the bedside table.

I usually leave them for him, then draw his attention to them later on either jokingly or angrily. I'm sick of it.

Should I:
> Tell him I've made him a lovely dessert then serve just toenails on a plate.
> Make him a lovely dessert and stir the toenails into it.
> Put the toenails in a pair of his boxers so they dig into his knob all day.
> Post them to his work.
> Put them in a box, collect any others that he leaves for me and wrap them up as an Easter present.

.... Other ideas welcome.

I vote for the Easter present.

Oldraver · 15/01/2026 12:43

My OH used to stick them on a piece of Blu-tac like some crazy toe nail art hedgehog

I had words, he doesn't do it now

Oh god I feel you pain. My partner sits on the sofa when I am not there, clips his trotters and puts the bits behind the sofa. I may round then up and serve them on toast.

Put a bin by the bed, buy him some clippers.

Send him horrible pics of ingrown toenails every time he leaves them somewhere. That's rank.

This is a brilliant idea! I might make him a toenail hedgehog for Easter.

The irony is that he bought me a podiatry-graded toenail care kit a few years back which is in the bathroom cupboard, clean and fully accessible.

Definitely save them for a gift, perhaps you could fashion them into a piece of jewellery?

glendabrownlow · 15/01/2026 13:34

That's revolting. I don't think it is particularly light hearted. My ex used to wait until he thought I wasn't looking and then pick his toenails and the skin on his feet and chuck it all behind the sofa. He was always doing it, it turned my stomach. I see there's someone else on this thread whose partner does the same - I wonder if him and my ex are the same person?

I used to find exH's fingernails in the car in the console where you put loose change etc. That was grim enough.

I'd be popping his toenails into his pint or cuppa so that when he drains his drink, there are his toenails greeting him at the bottom.

Easter present BUT....
I vote you keep collecting them and buy a chocolate egg which you gently jimmy apart then add them and reseal them inside by melting the egg halves and resealing

I make my own eggs every year so I could do this easily.

Meh I couldn’t get worked up about this. It’s just a nail and it’s in room, not a communal space!

but I do think the hedgehog sounds fun so I vote for that 😂

EveningSpread · 15/01/2026 18:38

My DP’s toenail fell off after a very long walk and I sellotaped it to the whiteboard. Then MINE fell off after a very long walk and I sellotaped it next to it!

This was before we had DD. Now we are a bit chubby and don’t go on long walks :(

I'm not too worked up really, hence asking for light hearted suggestions.

I'm frustrated that he won't use nail clippers. I always hit him with the "your jagged nails will rip the expensive bedding" but they haven't yet so he doesn't believe me.

I don't see a difference between rooms or communal areas - whereever you do your manky toenail habits, you should collect up and dispose of your leavings 😖
