Look at what the words we don't like have in common and say OP's first clue "I like coffee but I don't like tea" out loud to yourself a few times. Saying it out loud helped it finally click for me.

Yes just say the first one out loud, don’t recite them all out loud over and over again to your DH like I did the other night 😂

Second this advice.

The first one gives you the rule you need. Saying most of the other ones out loud doesn’t actually help.
