Just plug the details into chatgpt and ask it to write an invite for you.

shhblackbag · 07/01/2026 17:52

"I'm inviting" or similar. That's enough in my circle.

Smokeybacon72 · 07/01/2026 17:53

“There is a cash bar available, but wine will be included, along with your meal” ?

Tigger18 · 07/01/2026 17:54

Dear Friends,

I’m turning 40, and I’d love to celebrate the occasion with you over a proper dinner.

Please join me for an evening of excellent food, great wine, and even better company in a private dining room at one of my favorite spots.

Date: [Day, Date]
Time: [Time]
Location: [Restaurant Name], Private Dining Room

This is very much my treat—I’m hosting the evening and will be taking care of dinner and drinks, so all you need to do is show up ready to celebrate.

I hope you can make it. It wouldn’t be the same without you.

Warmly,
[Your Name]

"Dinner and drinks are on me so please join to eat, drink and be merry!"

itsthetea · 07/01/2026 17:54

”hosting” would be clearer than “inviting”

olympicsrock · 07/01/2026 17:56

Dear X

I would be delighted if you would join me as my guest to celebrate my 40th birthday with a dinner at the restaurant listed below.

Location: [Restaurant Name]
Date: [Date]
Time: [Time]

You could add …. Please be my guest — I will be hosting the evening, and all food and drinks will be provided.

or It will be my pleasure to treat everyone to their food and drinks .

VioletladyGrantham · 07/01/2026 17:56

I usually look out for the word 'complimentary' in tbis sort of thing.

ReturnToRiding · 07/01/2026 17:56

chat gpt suggests
“please be my guest-dinner is on me. Your presence is the only gift I would like” which I thought was lovely

LadyHexham · 07/01/2026 17:56

Or say something like "please come along as my guest"

ThejoyofNC · 07/01/2026 17:57

Things like this it's best not to beat around the bush because people will be unsure.

Reddlo · 07/01/2026 17:58

I would just add the words (my treat) to the invitation somewhere in brackets.

CraftyNavySeal · 07/01/2026 17:54

"Dinner and drinks are on me so please join to eat, drink and be merry!"

Just be careful with this, some people will see it as a gauntlet thrown down, and will be determined to Beat the Bar.

This is perfect. Friendly, warm and totally clear that it’s free for your guests.

I agree.

"I'm inviting" or similar. That's enough in my circle.

It wouldn't in mine @shhblackbag . I think the above wording is perfect.

ObladeeObladi · 07/01/2026 18:12

Maybe agree a limit with the restaurant though, some people will take “free drinks” as an invitation to try the best cocktails and will spend way more than you’re expecting. So say something to the effect that you’ll be covering the meal and wine with dinner, and make clear to the restaurant that they are not to serve anything other than the wine you’ve chosen
