Hilarious. This is known as The Game in my circle and I am Queen of it ( have to limit playing it as everyone loves it- when the Prosecco has been flowing it’s quite entertaining!)
I use this rule as the first one as it’s an easy one to demonstrate the game.
Took me bloody ages to work it out here ! 🤣

I think if anyone can come up with a different version of this type of game they should do as the op of this one has done and make a new thread for it - two games on the same thread would be chaos!

I could start a new game, but it is very, very similar to the thread that inspired this one so it would be over quite quickly.

I know several games like this that only work in person - if people on the thread fancy playing at home. The most infuriating one is called The Moon in the Spoon.

You play with a group of people, round a table after dinner for instance. You hold up an ordinary spoon and look at it, and say “I can see the moon in the spoon”.

Then you pass the spoon to someone else around the table, and they hold it up and repeat the same words/actions. Then you tell them whether they have done it correctly, or not. E.g. “sorry no you didn’t see the moon in the spoon this time, better luck next time” etc

The trick to the game is that you have to say “thank you” when the spoon is handed to you. Only if you say “thank you” when you receive the spoon, will your attempt to see the moon in the spoon be successful.

It’s ridiculous but it’s one of those games where the person at the table who is the most highly educated/intellectual may be the most befuddled - which I think adds to the fun. Plus it is rewarding for polite people!

We do one where your answer is only correct if it is preceded by "um". It can go on for a surprisingly long time and the answers from people who get the rule become increasingly more ludicrous.

The question can be anything you like:

"Where are you going on holiday this year?" works quite well, and you can also mislead everyone by using the rule in the game on this thread, or in the "deep but not profound" thread.
