When did naps become a battle

My little one is nearly three and naps have suddenly become a struggle. Some days he naps fine and other days he refuses completely. If he naps bedtime is hard and if he does not nap he is shattered by late afternoon. Just curious how it went for others and when naps finally stopped being part of the day.

My dd stopped napping just before she turned 2. I don’t know any 3 year olds who nap everyday.

I remember there being a time with both my dc whereby they had clearly outgrown their naps (or wouldn’t easily go down) but come 5-6pm were little overtired terrors. But it does eventually pass. You could always keep trying if he’s showing signs of real sleepiness / you’ve had an active morning, otherwise just see how you get on without and could have earlier nights on those days, until you can drop them completely
